How many of you are tired of hearing people whine that congratulatory questions are nothing more than an obvious attempt to grab more points? If I was to start a petittion asking the staff to eliminate points for such questions how many of you would sign?

To be honest I am sick of hearing about the congratulatory and monitoring. It is all allowed. Stop the whining and either involve yourselves or just ignore it.

I agree there are too many of them. Some are very minor accomplishments and should not even be posted. Birthdays, minor AB status changes, etc. should not be allowed.

The staff doesn't respond to petitions, but I am sending this question to the feedback section at the bottom of this page. We have been asking them to remove the points from that category for years. I would still write and answer the congratulations, even without points. It's a fun and useful part of AB. Considering this is the most popular question of AB, I fail to see the problem. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/171787

I have wanted that done from the beginning. No points for those questions or for the answers. Keep the category but get rid of the points.

I say let them whine. I see nothing wrong with things the way they are. To me signing for change is giving in to the people who want to complain. Maybe yahoo answers doesn't have questions like this but then we are not yahoo answers.

If the present system allows it,it must have been thought through so I see no reason to change it...its just a bit of fun. And, if you look at the number of replies these type of questions get they do seem popular. Those who do not agree with it do not have to reply.

I wouldn't sign it, because I don't care either way, but I can see where the "whiners" have a point. People do use Congratulatory questions to rake in the points. They just do. I am not saying all people do that, but many do. I don't see why it is such an appalling and offensive thing for someone to notice that and be annoyed by it. Also, not everyone is given a big virtual party when they reach a "significant milestone" on the 'Bag. Unless there is a way to ensure everyone is Congratulated equally, there are always going to be people who have a problem with it. Such is life.
