We as the Police are allowed to take whatever steps necessary to find you and bring you before the Judge who signed the warrant. If its a Misd. warrant, normally we would go to the place of residence, knock on the door and hopefully the wanted person will answer and be taken into custody. I dont really understand what your asking regarding what steps we are allowed to take. Basically if your found, you get arrested and the warrant is served. There really are no steps we need to take.

Well most cops will probably call you and ask you to come in to discuss something. This might be better for both sides because for the cop he doesn't have to leave the office and for you the neighbors won't see you dragged out of your house in handcuffs. When you are arrested in the precinct it saves you alot of embarassment because no one will really know that you were ever arrested except for people in the cell with you. If for some reason they can't get you to come in, that 5am knock on your door won't be the mailman. They will come to your crib, your mothers crib, your girlfriends crib or whoever they know that your associated with to arrest you. They shouldn't knock down your door, but they will stake out your house to wait for you.
