  • no way in Hell would everyone comply to that
  • Many americans believe that it is violating thier rights. They believe it to be self incrimination. Your rights get taken away when you are arrested, that is why you have to be fingerprinted regardless of the crime. Just like if everybody had a DNA sample taken at birth everybody would be able to easily find out who their natural parents are. Also you would be able to solve nearly every single murder case that involves dna without even having any suspects in mind. Its a pure and simple violation of rights.
  • Two issues: - Sometimes all identifying features are completely destroyed. Bad car crashes turn people into stew. - Collecting prints from everyone would be a huge violation of privacy. The FBI and several other government agencies have large databases of prints and other things. However, I bet they would have a difficult time mandating that every person give their prints.
  • The rights issues as the people above mentioned. You don't have to be old and wise to know that the gov't will abuse any power or information it has, maybe not through a Congress-passed law or evil but through bureaucratic creep. Also, I'm not even sure that now the computer technology is there to have computer-assisted searched through 300 million ( times 10 fingers = 3 billion) fingerprints.
  • Thay already do that, but you gotta commit a crime 1st. But 'they'll get around to everyone sooner or later - "1984" is still a happening thing!
