  • Well yes, of course the Earth is dying. It's also being reborn continuously. That's what the word "life" means... this constant cycling of death and birth and change. If you mean just the geological aspects of the planet, that's different: we generally consider that the planet as a bunch of rocks and molten metal IS dead: it's the stuff on the surface (plants, animals, etc) that's alive. ... and there's no sign that the life on the surface is in any imminent danger of dying out.
  • The Earth is just fine. It's got a heavy burden with us doing what we're doing to her, but she'll shrug us off like a bad cold, spend a couple million years cleaning herself up for the next dominant species to come along.
  • I do. I don't understand why the world's scientist need US to admit it or be part of it. The technology already exists to obsolete fossil fuels, and to reinforce the ozone.
  • Well, the Earth was formed some 4.54 milliard years ago and life has been on this planet for some 3.8 milliard years and there is only about another 2 million years left for life to survive on this planet before the Sun expands too much and all of the water on this planet is evaporated off by the sheer heat of the Sun. So life on this planet will be brought to an abrupt end but not through it dying out. Are we killing it off? I don't think so. Life has this brilliant ability to adapt, whatever change we make (which are minimal compared to what the Earth naturally goes through, like earthquakes, polar flips etc.) likfe will adapt to that. Need I remind you of the meteor and the large volcanic eruptions that killed off 90% of the planet's life some 65 million years ago? We are here and thriving! Geologically, The Earth started cooling down pretty much as soon as the Moon started deflecting the aseroids etc. from us onto itself. Now the Moon is about 4.53 milliard years old. So from then on the Earth has constantly be 'dying' and will continue to cool until the Sun starts expanding. This will only warm up the surface, like cooking; what's inside might be done but keep cooking it and all you'll do is burn the outside. The Earth will be gobbled up by the Sun in approximately 5 milliard years, that will be the end of it's life unless some unforseen force ends it first.
  • that man is causing great harm to this planet is very obvious. the scientific community as well as the governments are not willing to admit this to the public or even themselves. the fact that they are not able to manage earthly matters is all but too clear! i know and believe what God's inspired Word says on this matter. in revelation 11:18 we read that the appointed time has come to "bring to ruin those ruining the earth." Almighty God himself and the Creator of this planet and the rest of the universe is very well aware of our problems here. he assures us in his word not to be overly concerned that man could destroy this precious planet. first of all, of all the planets and heavenly bodies in the universe, earth happens to have a very special place in Jehovah God's heart. isaiah 66:1 says: "this is what Jehovah has said: "the heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool." so this is where Jehovah rests his feet, so to speak. meaning how close and endeared he is to this planet. it is no wonder, for this is where he sent his beloved son to die on our behalf. so that problems that we are now experimenting will not end in a total catastrophe. so even though it seems that man is bent on destroying himself we can have the assurance of the bible when it tells us that we need not worry too much. eclesiastes 1:4 says: "a generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even till time indefinite." scriptures such as these give us reason to believe that this planet is hear to stay for all eternity. so the time has come for action. jeremiah 10:23 tells us that man is incapable of directing his step, much less saving himself. man is not the answer to the problems we face globally. we need to turn to the maker of man himself and this earth for answers. there is a bright future ahead for those that search out answers in God's inspired Word. i hope you look to him and find a satisfying answer to all your concerns. for more information i strongly urge you to go to www.watchtower.org they will in turn answer any further question you might have, as well as direct you to someone in your area for more assistance. may Jehovah guide you if you are sincere about this.
  • Not me... Plenty worse things than what we're doing has happened to this planet before, and here we are : P The problem is not that we may kill the planet, it's that we may kill ourselves / our food / etc (and the Scientists 'are' saying so in that case ; )
  • Do you really think that scientists and experts know anything?
