The US was booed with outrage by the other nations at the recent Bali Climate Change Summit, as it wouldn't sign. Yet the US emits the most man-made carbon in the world, so why does it continue to act as if global environmental issues don't apply to it?

Are you sure about your facts.. As far as I know, no other country in the world has done more to combat pollution and improve its enviroment than the U.S. Look at China, The Middle East,(they light their own oil fields on fire)... So does it really surprise anyone that the U.S. isnt going to take all the blame and sign a treaty or accord where the WORST polluters dont have to do their part!!!!

You really should check your facts. Those that actually signed the Kyoto accords are not meeting their obligations. As a matter of fact, on average, their emissions are growing faster than the US's (http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2007/12/kyoto_schmyoto.html).

Because all of this man made carbon stuff is crap. None of it is true. It is all made up to control people. Don't worry though now that world appeasing, America hating Obama is in office he will make sure we give up our sovereignty to the world under the name of "climate control" and we will become a 3rd world country like everyone else.

These international environmental bills are all essentially poorly veiled efforts to "punish" the United States. On top of that, these things are drafted by lobbyists and environmentalists, not scientists. These bills do little to actually reduce pollution and end up just strangling economic development at high costs. Also, CO2 is not pollution, it's a naturally occurring gas that makes life on Earth possible. The arbitrarily assumed effects of man-made CO2 made by global warming alarmists are thankfully starting to be seen for what they are, bullshit.

Because we in the US know man-made global warming to be junk science. Finally, it's been exposed that there is no "consensus" http://www.petitionproject.org/ The only consensus there ever was, was crooked politicians playing with the scientific data and crooked "scientists" that played along with the governments hoping for more grant money. It's been exposed as a fraud. There are some pretty dumb people here who think that 6+ billion people can have no effect on the climate. They charge that since it isn't a man-made climate change, they need not change their ways. Although plenty of research has shown that this warming is the fastest of all previous warming, they are too dense to see that if they were to help be polluting less that it MIGHT just have a positive effect, while doing nothing certainly can't help. A lot of them have been voted out of office and hopefully more will be soon.
