Depends on how long they have been out of touch. I would cover all bases...calling my friend's workplace (talk to anyone there), family, other friends, texting, express mail...calling and leaving voice messages asking the person to please respond, or you will call the police. If no response ...call the police on their non-emergency line and tell them of your concerns....they will get the local police in her neighbourhood to do a check of her house. Don't worry if it is a false alarm (she's gone on vacation without telling you), your motivation is good and solid and the police don't mind a bit.

The distance and time of year wouldn't hamper my plans, but I'm not sure what would worry me enough to warrant tracking them down. If there was bad weather or some such and then I suddenly couldn't reach them, then yeah when conditions got better I would certainly go investigate.

I think if you're worried about your friend that much you should go. If it really is nothing, than your conscience is relieved. Also if you go, you have an opportunity to see them again.

It would not hurt to call a friend of hers...maybe her family...or if she works or goes to school, contact them to see if she has been attending.

i dont think i would drive or fly 240 miles to check up on a friend...though it does depend on how long its been however i would just think they didnt want to talk or something. :)

HOW ABOUT WRITTING HER A LETTER...... CUZ WHAT ABPUT OF YOU DRIVE ALL THE WAY OUT THERE, AND WATCH THAT FRIEND NOT BE THERE , WHEN U GET THERE!!!! I WOUL KEEP CALLING

If i was fretting over them and the only way to find out if they were ok was to drive there and see then I would drive there and see, otherwise they weren't that close a friend.
