With both pregnancies I was never able to produce enough milk to sustain life. That's the the ball bounces sometimes (or the boobs, in this case). Formula is perfectly fine! There is nothing wrong with it whatsoever.
Lookit - the colostrum is the main thing anyway. As long as the baby got that, then worrying is pointless. Ask you pediatrician - he will verify everything I told you.
Never "give up" if you want to pump, but pumping never worked for me either. After the initial month or so your breasts won;t "feel full" anyway, but there is still milk there your body is just regulating it's flow better so that it is less burdensome for you. I was never able to get more than 5oz out becasue it was too awkward for me to pump. Can get a significant amount out by hand but it takes much longer. And if you are sick you get more dehydrated and eat less, pluss your body is using extra vitamins to get better so it CAN effect your milk supply but if you keep up on a healthy diet and about 64 oz of water a day you won't have to worry. Your body will produce what is taken out at that time each day so you need to train your body to produce milk at the times you pump. Say at noon evry day you pump for 20 minutes. I just never had the patience to do continue with this and found breastfeeding easier then pumping.
If you would like to increase your supply get plenty of rest, drink lots of water and increase the frequency of your pumping, you may feel like all you do is pump milk for a few days, but the more often you pump, the more your body will make. In the meantime, try this forum.

Continue pumping them - the more you eat or drink, the more milk you will produce - if you stop pumping or nursing, you'll dry up. Even if you only get one ounce, pump it out. When you do that you're telling your body to make more because the baby still needs it.
How much will my breasts grow after pregnancy and weaning? Do they revert after milk production ceases?
