  • I don't know, but here's a question for YOU: Do you get the feeling some people don't quite grasp the actual meaning of "duplicate question"? ;-) Yes, I think some people don't really understand, especially new people. They don't know to do a search for a question. Others DO know better but still want to ask it for themselves instead of responding to the one already asked or reading the responses. I think it's part laziness and part ignorance. Maybe part stubbornness also. :)
  • I do get that feeling, especially since when you ask a question similar ones show up on the right hand side so you can see if it has been asked or not. People, sheesh!
  • It's more than a feeling. I just wanted to throw up my hands when a penguin question got tossed into a panda and penguin question so yes, now 13 out of 15 members now sound like total idiots with their answers. Or when there is a separate part of a question and it gets ignored in the melding and you lose the nuance of a better written question and are left with something plain and uninteresting for further reading and responding:-(
  • LOL ya think?
  • I know what you mean Jodie, from the issues I have read about in the blog, it really seems that there are some crazy moderations being approved. I freaked out when I discovered that as a CL my mods don't have to go through any approval process, they occur the minute I make them. For that reason, I no longer mark a duplicate with a 'fairly close' duplicate, I only do it if it is really obvious that the meaning is the same... eg 'be serious, what came first, the chicken or the egg' I put into 'which came first, the chicken or the egg'. I honestly did not think much would be lost from the question if it did not have 'be serious' at the start.
  • I really do get that feeling Jodie, and I get it a lot :)
