That is true. It was on Mythbusters the other day. The more surface are of the gas and the more ability for it it splash around the more evaporation will occur.

I just read the e-mail too. I think the loss of gasoline due to evaporation say in a 14-16 gallon tank would be so minimal that I don't think it would be worth.....worrying over.

I did't see the mythbusters show but I am sure what they said aboue evaperation is true mabey in an open container.. But.... Unless you are driving a car from the 60's vehicle fuel systems have some type evaperative emissions systems in them. They are required by law to meet certain levels of evap emissions standards. A 2006 car doesn't emit any gasoline vapors when parked. The fuel that evaporates is captured in a charcoal filled canister and saved. Then at certain times the computer opens a valve and sucks the vapors back into the fuel system where they are burned. This is why the check engine light comes on when you leave the gas cap off. The computer thinks there is a big leak in the system. Plus more fuel = more weight = less MPG. Sorry about the ramble, it's been a DAY...Thanks for listining
