  • Did your creditor consider your a charge-off and send you to collections? That may be what happened. You may have had a clerical error, in which case you are incorrectly in collections. You should dispute this with the credit bureaus. If that doesn't work, you should contact the original creditor and ask that company to resolve your complaint. If you've always paid at least the minimum payment on time, you should contact the original creditor and nicely tell them that you do not recall being late and ask them to remove this from your report. In any case, ask the 3rd party collections agency to quit calling you. If they don't comply with your request, look online for letters to send the debt collectors and make sure that you send them "certified mail, return receipt requested." I hope that helps.
