Obviously not. The rich and powerful make their own rules, and you cannot get more rich and powerful than God.
-
Pretty much, yeah.

Yes, that is the definition of a bastard child. Bastard: The offspring of unmarried parents. Jesus's parents: God & Mary, unmarried. Therefore Jesus was a bastard child. Make of that what you will though; in a modern context, a bastard child is different to calling someone a bastard (Used to be that you'd call someone a bastard child as an insult, but now 'bastard' is really just a stand-alone insult with no link to being a bastard child...)

Bastard refers to a child whose human parents were not married. Would you refer to all dogs as bastards because their parents were not married?

1) Who the historical Jesus was, and who his parents were, is uncertain, but we he probably existed and did at least some of the things which are reported in the Bible. For a non believer, Jesus was then a man and had parents, and if his parents were not married at the time he was born, he could be called an illegitimate child. But it looks like he has been adopted by Joseph. An unbeliever could then say: - either his father was Joseph, and he married Mary afterwards, and legitimated Jesus by adopting him - or his father was another man, and Jesus was an illegitimate, adopted child. 2) According to Christian Belief, Jesus is the incarnation of "God the Son". And his mother Mary was a virgin, at least until he was born. So we have on the one side something like a biological mother, but there is no biological father. But it does not mean that it was parthenogenesis either, because "God the Son" incarnated. This incarnation has not any biologic or genetic explanation. It is absolutely against all known laws of nature as we know them. I do not even remember that it was somewhere said that Mary was the biological mother of Jesus, for instance. Maybe she was only the one who was pregnant and gave him birth. So the genes of Jesus would have been: - either just the same of those of Mary, however, he was more as his parthonegenic child. This is quite improbable, because in this case, he would have been a woman (a quite good concealed secret) - or totally different (own created genes) - or a compound of Mary's gene and something totally different An other important thing is that "God the Son" is *not* the son - in the human sense - of "God the Father". They are just two parts of the Trinity. If one believe one of these theories, Jesus is not an illegitimate child. Jesus is the incarnation of God. 3) Christian mainstream view: "In most Christian thinking, Jesus is the incarnation of the Logos—the divine Word of God—as described in the first chapter of the Gospel of John (1:1–18). Many Christians believe that there is no ontological distinction between God and Jesus (holding that Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity), and that Jesus did not lose his divinity in the incarnation, but rather took on humanity. - Distinctions among "Jesus," "Christ," "God," "Trinity" Jesus and Christ refer to the same person whom Christians believe is God's son, who died on the Cross to miraculously save his followers from their sins, and who rose from the dead on the third day after his death and later ascended into heaven where he sits at the "right hand of God the Father." - Jesus According to the Bible in Matthew 1:20-21, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, at the time Mary's fiancé, told him that what was conceived in her was from the Holy Spirit, that she would give birth to a son. The angel instructed Joseph to "give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." The name Jesus, the Greek form of Joshua, which means the LORD saves. Christians believe Jesus has no earthly biological father, and that Mary, his mother, was a virgin who "conceived by the Holy Spirit" (Luke 1:26-37), and therefore Jesus was God's son. (See Virgin Birth of Jesus.) Christians believe the virginity of Mary is important for two reasons: She was sexually pure; and she was not pregnant already. - Christ Christians worship Jesus as savior and Lord, believing Jesus is the Christ, the "Son of the Living God." They believe Jesus is "the anointed one" as predicted in the Hebrew Scriptures. The apostle Peter, in what has become a famous proclamation of faith among Christians since the first century, said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16), thereby affirming that Jesus is the Christ, and that he was God's son. Often, Christians use the names "Jesus" and "Christ" interchangeably according to Christian understanding. (See above for a decontextualized understanding of Christ.) Some may refer to "Jesus" when emphasizing his human nature in an event in the New Testament, and refer to "Christ" in discussing his divine nature. - God The word YHWH (Hebrew: Yodh-He-Waw-He, יהוה ), often transliterated as Yahweh, is the name most often used for God in untranslated Hebrew scriptures, appearing more than 6700 times and usually translated as the LORD (cf. Adonai) in most English Bibles. In some cases, it is transliterated to function as a name as in Jehovah as found in the American Standard Version, the Darby Bible and the New World Translation or Yahweh as found the Jerusalem Bible. The specific name "Living God," as used by the apostle Pater in the foregoing example, is also used in Psalm 84:1-2, "My heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God." Jesus often addressed God as Father. The Psalmist in Psalm 84:3 revered God "Lord of hosts, my king and my God." - Trinity The Holy Trinity is a term used since about the third century to denote one God in three Persons – God as Father, God as Son (Jesus Christ), and God as Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit. Today the doctrine of the Trinity is orthodox among most Christian churches and denominations." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ#Christian_mainstream_view 4) Gnostic Christ "The gnostics generally believed not in a Jesus who was a Divine Person with a human nature, but in a spiritual Christ who dwelt in Jesus. Through the spiritual path of gnosticism, followers of these schools believed that they could experience the same knowledge, or gnosis. Their theology was or is dualistic and premised upon demigods, salvation for the elect, and the actions of an unknowable, formless God who takes human form. This was considered heresy by the Early Church as per the first Ecumenical Council, which occurred at Nicaea in 325 A.D., although condemnation of the belief existed well before." I believe they were going to, but the Justice of the Peace refused to perform the ceremony because Yahweh did not have proper Identification and Proof of Address. Also, the blood tests were off the charts, and had to be discarded.

They were married, it was not CONSUMMATED until after HIS BIRTH...HE had bothers and sisters..Jude was one...
-
Mary was not "married" to God, the Father of Jesus. She was betrothed to Joseph and Jesus grew up as Joseph's son. In the eyes of Mary's and Joseph's friends and family, Jesus was not a bastard. I suppose he is technically a bastard if you want to play with semantics. That has nothing whatsoever to do with his life or ministry. The circumstances of one's birth does not mean anything to God. He judges us by our hearts.

During the time period it was set in it was rare to actually have a last name for example Jesus full name was Jesus of Nazareth .

Hey, Antigone. Old question, I know, but I just stumbled across it, so…. First of all, the question is slightly flawed: Jesus and the God commonly known as Yahweh are the same guy. Christ’s Father is the God commonly known as Elohim. Of course, it seems that the Father is *occasionally* referred to as Yahweh, so let’s ignore that minor detail, for the moment. I think the more important point is: are you actually saying that you think they weren’t married? I’m not saying they necessarily were, but I don’t think there’s any reason to believe, either way. So if they weren’t married, then I suppose He would technically be a bastard—but that’s a big if. HTH!

You cannot apply current standards of fleshly behaviour to a spiritual being...like almighty God.
-
No, of course not! Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and his birth on Earth was a miracle. Any sensible person agrees with this. Those who do not agree with all sensible people are not quite normal, to say the least.

as sad as all these comments are. as blatantly distasteful and horrendously disrespectful as they truly are. the fault of all this disrespect lies with the churches that teach these lies. the fault for people mocking God's son, and God being the father of the greatest man that has ever walked the earth, is none other than the so called "christian" churches. they have created confusion, and doubts. they have discredited the bible, as well as twisted any truth written in it. for this they have a heavy price to pay. no they are not going to "burn in hell" the bible says a worse fate awaits them very soon now. (revelation 18:1-19) when this entity satan has been using to misguide the masses is finally destroyed there will be great rejoicing as revelation 18:20 says: "be glad over her, o heaven, also you holy ones and you apostles and you prophets, because God has judicially exacted punishment for you from her!." the execution of this judgement is very soon to befall this worldwide organization. "babylon the great," the world empire of false religion, has brought little comfort to the masses. on the contrary, by means of "the wine of her fornication," she has made multitudes stagger in spiritual confusion. moreover, by acting like a harlot, false religion has seduced and controlled "the kings of the earth," using lying doctrines and spiritistic practices to keep the masses in passive subservience to their political masters. false religion has thus gained power and influence, but at the same time, she has completely rejected religious truth. (revelation 17:1,2,5; 18:23.)

As funny a question as that is, doesn't Christianity preach that all Abrahamic followers are married to their god? I think so. So then, no, Jesus is perfectly legitimate.

Don't blaspheme God. Jesus' earthly parents were Mary and Joseph....His Father and He are one. One God. Sin separates us from God. The only sacrifice worthy of atonement for our sins (all have sinned) would be God Himself so he came to earth in the form of a man (as a child formed by the Holy Spirit in the virgin womb of a humble, faithful servant of God, Mary). It's like a glove with a hand in it - it's a human body filled with God's spirit. He then became the punishment for our sins by taking on the sins of anyone who believes in Him - in Jesus. He had to become a man in order to be able to die, he could only rise from the dead because he was God, and because he was God, the sacrifice was perfect and healed the rift between humans who believe and God......it's all by grace though...you can't come to understand or have faith unless God has chosen you to become one of His adopted children (brothers and sisters of Christ Jesus)....please repent of your sins and pray that God forgive you and give you faith. Love and peace in Christ.

Big 'if'. There is no scripture to back up that assumption. Jesus was conceived while Mary and Joseph were betrothed. While Joseph CONSIDERED putting her away quietly, he was told not to worry about it. That strongly suggests that they did indeed marry before He was born. Also recall that Jesus was known in his community as the SON of Joseph and Mary. Scripture has no problem pointing out sin. Had He been born out of wedlock, it would have been mentioned.
