  • I'm just answering to get points and smiley faces.
  • I don't know if this is a trend. I've seen that many times since I've been here. Some people with a specific agenda, not that open to solid, intelligent counter-arguments. I tend to stay away from those.
  • Points and smiley faces...cool. No really, I think we run across bullies everywhere. In person and on the net. I don't think it is a trend. Or maybe more people just need to light up!
  • I don't know, but getting downrated for your honest opinion blows too! :) :O) :P :D =) -) (cyclops)
  • It isn't new dear! It's been happening as long as I've been a member :) I've learned to avoid the loaded questions to some degree.
  • They are absolutely right! And now, tell me I am wrong... ;-)
  • That happens sometimes. The person answering can point out that after being asked "what is your opinion" or "what do you think" only the answerer knows the correct answer. Only you know your opinion, only you know what you think. They can disagree with what you say -- but what you say can't be wrong. It is generally inarticulate individuals who fall in to that trap.
  • Yes, please don't waste my time asking for it if you don't want to hear it.
  • Just say "You asked me for my opinion. I gave you my opinion. Now I'm going to ask you to NOT give my YOUR opinion. You're not going to convince me that you're right." Well, that's what I'd say. Opinion is just that: an opinion. And when people act like their opinions are facts, they make fools of themselves.
  • I’m new to AB, not aware of the trend. Right or wrong opinions are opinions. People’s opinions should be respected, viewed and analyzed. If you do not have a good comment of someone’s opinion, then do not comment. Just because someone’s opinion is different from yours, does not mean they are wrong. In my opinion, I believe the trend would be coming from a younger generation that was not taught to respect opinions.
  • This is not a new trend. We have always had people that ask for opinions just for the pleasure of Downrating people. They neither have the intelligence or the manners to accept that everyone has a right to their own opinion
