  • A: Not all American males get circumcised. B: Who "needs" it?
  • Only about 65% of males in the US currently get circumcised. Some for Religious reasons and other for health reasons although they are minimal.
  • It was widely believed and propagated in the US that circumcision would reduce the risk of various urinary tract infections. Though this is no longer widely believed, it has become to some extent traditional or 'normal.' Some parents say they want their sons to feel comfortable in locker rooms and such settings where presumably all other boys will be circumcised, or to identify with their father in that regard, as almost every American male over the age of 25 was circumcised.
  • Not all American males do get circumcised. I have a son who is and a son who is not. It is not medically proven to do any good and it's all cosmetic if you ask me. Religion aside, of course.
  • Not all American males are circumcised. It's not nearly as common now as it was, and it's very controversial among people having baby boys now. I would say, religion aside, the majority aren't getting it done anymore.
  • Some parents in the US have there sons circumcised because it's what their parents did before. But some parents are looking at the reasons and are choosing to not to have a surgery that is no longer considered necessary. In the countries that started circumcision from the influence of Victorian England, most have completely abandoned routine circumcision. UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have populations where the majority do not circumcise. And in the US rate have been dropping since around 1970 when they peaked..
  • Same reason that all american males carry a gun and wear cowboy boots. Stereotype. We all have not been.
  • Just so you know, this is changing. Baby boys being born right now are being circumcised at a rate of about 50% but adult US males were circumcised at higher rates.
  • r u crazy no one needs it.
  • Because the Jews rule the medical community in America.
  • White adult Americans are overwhelmingly cut, but now at least 45% of boy babies leave the maternity ward uncut. American hospitals used to circumcise every baby boy 1-3 days after birth, without asking his mother's permission. Now hospitals ask, doctors seldom push it, and most parents know that it is not really necessary and that it hurts the baby a lot. But millions of parents have their baby boys cut anyway. Why? Because mommy does not want to be reminded of the foreskin every time she changes his diaper or helps him take a bath. Mommy shudders with disgust when she thinks about the smell under the foreskin, and having to give a blowjob to an intact lover. You people out there have to understand that body odour is the ultimate faux pas for Yanks. Daddy is afraid Junior will be teased in the locker room and on first dates. Mom and Dad are terrified of that Junior will ask questions about his body they can't answer. Best to cut the thing off, and not think about all these gross dilemmas any more. The amazing thing is not why are so many Americans cut, but why have so many parents moved on.
  • All American males DO NOT get circumcised! I have seen plenty of naked men who are still "intact."
  • http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32555100/ns/health-aids/ It's coming back and Jews do not rule the medical community. It's up to the parents to make the decision. It's not just done in hospitals routinely.
