Ya know, a lot of people beleive he doesnt exist, therefore, he can be green if you want.
-
I believe he was probably dark skinned, dark hair and had dark eyes, considering the area of the world that he was in.

It really isn't important as to what shade of skin Jesus may or may not have had. There were, and are now, light skinned Jews. He could have been light skinned, he could have been darker. But all this matters only to those who want to cause fractions in the christian community.

Jesus was a 1st Century Galilean/Judean Jew, and thus a Semite, and therefore a Caucasian, albeit of the Levantine olive-skinned variety. Semites may not be Indo-Europeans, but they are still Caucasians. Not that that matters aside from just being so. It was the Flemish masters who first started painting Jesus with long red hair and blue eyes. But what the heck - they also painted Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great wearing medieval armor, carrying lances and broad swords, riding destriers. (And Hollywood casts all Roman senators as English aristocrats, and their fictional US Presidents all have exceptionally WASPish names.) It begins as artistic license, and becomes cliche.

I believe Jesus was black (or brown skinned) because people of that time were moreorless of that colour. I mean come on they live in the sun, they must have brown skin. I do find it strange that people suddenly think its not important what colour Jesus was, because he is depicted as a pale complexioned white man with sandy coloured staright hair and blue eyes, not what the bible suggests as a man with cotton looking hair etc, it was important enough to depict him to be what the bible says he isn't. And is it not the case that historally and genetically speaking, people living prodominately in the sun had wider noses to accomodate the atmosphere they lived in, and if we look around to this day it is the case that black people have wider noses, even now when so many of us have mixed heritage.

According to the original classification of caucasion Jesus was indeed caucasion, see wiki entry below. "The Caucasian race, sometimes the Caucasoid race, is a term of racial classification, coined around 1800 by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach for the "white" race of mankind, which he derived from the region of the Caucasus.[1] It was thus in use as denoting populations of Europe, North Africa, the MIDDLE EAST, and parts of Central and South Asia."

Ya know, a lot of people believe he doesn't exist, therefore, he can be green if you want. Yeah but, if you, like my 'believe in him', then it probably does matter, @ least; a little. Also: it -proves 'Fascists/Nationalists', wrong: when they persecute 'darker' people. For if they persecute those, in 'superiority -complexes' ('chip on shoulders'??), then 'we', 'Olives' (what name; I give, to 'Olive -Skinned' peoples), could perhaps persecute them or @ least; see ourselves, as 'superior' -NOT SAYING WE SHOULD BUT; they see themselves, as 'superior to others'; how 'd they like it, if we then -saw ourselves, as 'superior, to pure whites'?? Not that I mean, to be offensive -I mean; GOD Bless -EVERYONE snd may they ALL be HAPPY.... LOVE -Mike.

If we consider Jesus anthropologically (i.e. scientifically), we can't reasonably say he was white. He would have been dark-skinned, olive-toned. When Jesus is being depicted, though, it isn't always as Jesus of Nazareth. Most Christians believe Jesus transcended his physical being and is now a divine being -- at the right hand of God in Heaven, the universal human saviour, etc. As such, Jesus doesn't have a face or skin colour, and he is to everyone the same, the personal saviour, so images of him are purely metaphorical and imaginative, not realistic. The reason most of these images are of a white Jesus, and why even depictions of the historical Jesus of Nazareth are often white, is because of white supremacy. (I don't mean white supremacy as in neo-nazis. I mean the words in a descriptive sense, not an ideological one.)

He would look like a modern day Italian, fairly light but with a tinge of melanin to mark then off as exotic. The semetic Jews are not light skinned the Asiatic are light skiined as they are not of Semetic origin but from southern Georgia which is why there is a lot of fighting in the Isreal/Philistine area.

Middle Eastern, that's the way it goes, from Turkey to Morroco.
