I can't compare AB to all the other websites, just Yahoo Answers, where I was a former member (actually I still have a low-level account there, but I'm no longer active as I'm already here on AB). I think one of the disadvantages of AB is that some very good answers are not uprated at all. I realized that while I was moderating the site. Many very good answers have been given by users with bronze badges, and yet they received no points at all for those answers. That's probably why many good new users come and go - their efforts aren't appreciated. On Yahoo Answers, an answer automatically gets two points, no matter how good or bad it is. Another disadvantage is we can't contact another user directly. Yahoo Answers allows users to email other users directly (if they enable that email feature). Here, we can't email a user directly unless that user has voluntarily indicated their email address on their profile. That's why many wars erupt at the comment threads - users can't settle the scores in private.

the only disadvantage I can find here on AB is the D/R's ...I truly think that if you scrapped the D/R points you would end the 'trolling' that goes on, so me its the only way as people are reluctant to make it that if you D/R someone you must leave a comment as to why ...apart fom that its the best!!
