Yes, I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma in August, had a punch biopsy followed by three surgeries to remove it. If you are experiencing, or know someone who is experiencing a similar circumstance, I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. As far as how dangerous it is/was - it depends upon how far the cancer has spread before being caught. Malignant melanomas, when detected early, as mine was, have a very successful cure rate. However, untreated, they can metasticize to other organs and be life threatening.

I was diagnosed over summer 09. The doctor caught it at a very early stage, so I only needed one surgery to get rid of it. What they originally found was less than .01 mm thick. I got lucky this time... Just turned 17 and already had cancer... Not good for me.
