Could be a dirty fuel injector. when is the last time you bought a bottle of fuel injector cleaner? fuel injectors become clogged, just like everything else in an automobile. under a heavy load, one injector is not perfoming normally. then, all of a sudden, its unclogged and a build-up gasoline causes what sounds like a backfire. autozone has fuel injector cleaner, at a reasonable price. hope this works for you.
