  • Maybe - Lightening in a bottle and all that as Leonard Nimoy said. That said Dr Who was all but dead and is experiencing a huge revival. Maybe it needs a breather. I thought Voyager and Enterprise were pretty poor to be fair (especially Voyager).
  • It seems to have run its course, but all things can be renewed if done in the right way.
  • Well, there is a new movie coming out. It's about a young Kirk and Spock in Star Fleet Academy. I don't know how that's going to work, since Spock is supposed to be much older then Kirk.
  • Perhaps.. but tis still having its day in syndication.
  • In my personal (and VERY biased) opinion, I think Trek has a LONG way to go before it's finished. If Rick Berman would get his head out of his ego, he might realize that the fans would LOVE him to delve deeper into the alien species, instead of keeping the focus on Earth. I, for one, would LOVE to see a movie from the Romulan perspective (perhaps with the lovely Commander Donatra as star?) after the death of Praetor Shinzon... or the story of Kahless (the Klingon god)... or the history of Vulcans, and the rift that split the species into two very different races (Vulcans as we know them, and the hostile Romulans).
  • No, not yet, it will continue to have its day, and inspire the masses for many more years, I for one, look forward to it. Great question!
  • That was what NBC executives thought back in 1969 when they canceled it. Gene Roddenberry came up with the concept in 1960, 48 years ago. After it has inspired several television series and ten motion pictures, we can safely say there are few more enduring concepts in all of television.
  • Never! It will always go on.
  • Still a lot more ideas when it comes to that. I want to see some sort of movie on the Eugenics War. A mini series if you will. Still, the ideas are endless and for it all to happen, you have to get the right people together with very fresh ideas.
  • There was a ten year lapse between the end of the original series and when they made the first movie. There hasn't been a substantial break in fresh Star Trek material since 1979, and perhaps things had grown a little too saturated. What they needed to do is take another 5-10 year break and let the nostalgia build. Instead they are already rebooting the franchise with a prequel.
  • I think Star trek the series has "run out of gas", but the idea behind it is still very interesting and i don't think people will lose interest in it.
