  • A fashion designer creates and designs the clothes and may or may not actually sew the clothes themselves. Depending upon how wealthy the designer is, they may have someone else actually sew the clothes for them. However, if they have no real income and they're working out of their basement, or a small place of buisness, and it's not within their budget to hire seamstresses, then yes, they'll sew their own clothes.
  • Hundreds of thousands , if not millions of dollars per year. The designer gets all the credit and the humble workers get none.
  • The designer may create the sketch and possibly the prototype garment before its manufacturing specifications are nailed down to where the work can be shipped offshore to fabric workers earning $1 to $3 per day. When one country's economic development has bid up the wages then the work gets shipped to a different country, so that fabric manufacture just within my own lifetime has gone from USA to japan, then korea, then to mainland china and vietnam.
