If you are caught in a lie during an interview you won't be hired. Probably, end of story. If you are found out to have lied after you are hired and work there you can face more serious consequences. Firing, being the first. Prosecution, depending on the severity of the lie AND what you have cost the company in lost revenue due to hiring you in the first place. Bear in mind this is going beyond your "embellishment" type lie. More along the lines of falsifying information.

I have seen people who were fired after it was found that they lied on their job application. Not a wise thing to do.

Either way, can kiss that job goodbye!

False info on your application is grounds for dismissal. Termination! Fire your butt!
