What is the difference between a Buick 350 8 Cylinder and a Cadillac Northstar 8 cylinder? I'm wondering about gas mileage is why I'm asking

The Cady Northstar has what is called D.O.D. or Displacement On Demand. What it means is that the engines will run on 8 cylinders when it needs power,but at cruising speeds the engine will shut down 4 cylinders and run on 4. Its a fuel saving option. It is possible that the Buick also has this option, but I think all Caddy V8's have it.
