Technically it's not illegal...just first cousins is, I think....but on a different level, I think it's kind of icky to date anyone w/ "cousin" in the title.

I believe most social conventions hold that dating a sister or first cousin is incest, but beyond that the rules get fuzzier. Many people have married their cousins, and science has shown that there is no problem with their children being in danger. If this is your cousin by marriage, and not a blood relative, it is alright. G'day Anonymous, Thank you for your question. Yes it is fine provided that you are both interested in each other. You are not much more likely to have kids with genetic problems than the general population. Indeed, it is legal in many states for first cousins to marry. Charles Darwin married his first cousin. i think dating your second cousin is gross in a way but if u really love him it shouldnt matter what people say i mean its your life but imagine what your familys going to say about it.i also think that theres lots of people in the world so you should try to find someone thats not related

i dont really see what is wrong with marrying your first cousin, i mean its another human being that you happen to have feelings for, if you had kids it may be difficult to explain and get ur heads around but it should be ok, as for second cousins, they are very distant and not a close family member like ur siblings are so why not. Also what does second cousin stand for, i mean are they important and pretty much like a first cousin or are they just distant people who you don't even need to know about. My grandfather's sister lives in australia and her son has 7 kids, i live in england so i never see them, do you think you can get around that problem and have a closer relationship like a first cousin would?
