I think its pretty even.

People tend to gang up on those that do not share their ideals. The same people usually do little to promote their ideals to become more generally accepted. I believe that people do complain more than celebrate.

I think it is more of a matter of banning together to change the status quo. We'll ban together to change the status quo and more than to maintain it, until the status quo is being threatened, then those wishing to maintain it will ban together to keep it. I think that is why it may seem as if we ban together to complain more than to celebrate.

Change, whether positive or negative , is something that motivates folks to band together.
