  • As far as I knew there was never an actual recipe. We made the sauces with milk, cheese, pureed onion (weird, but grandma knows best), salt and white pepper. Mix it with cooked noodles, sprinkle cheese on top and bake. Mmmm...
  • this is simple and good. 2C pasta short macaroni(or anything) 3 Tsbp butter 1 large onion coarsely chopped 8 oz mushrooms sliced 2 medium tomatoes chopped 2 Tbsp flour 1 tsp dry mustard 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp dried oregano 2-3 cups of milk 8 oz cheddar cheese coarsely grated good pinch of cayenne handful of dry breadcrumbs Cook the pasta and drain. Preheat oven to 350 . Melt butter in pan and add vegetables to soften..stir in flour mustard salt and oregano. Add milk slowly 1/2 cup at a time..stir often..when this sauce is heated through and thickened slowly add more milk and stir in the cayenne pepper and 6 oz of the cheese until melted. Pour mixture over pasta and mix...mix breadcrumbs and remaining cheese and sprinkle on top..cook for about 45 min..if top is not brown and bubbling place under broiler for a few minutes. NOTE: I usually use more cayenne and cheese...but the recipe is pretty variable
  • just cook a noodle, take a bite of cheese and a drink of milk with some melted butter in it and enjoy.
