  • Windmill is a term used to refer to an emergency method of restarting the engine in midair. Remember that in order for the fuel to ignite, a high amount of compressed air must be present inside. If an engine stalls during flight, usually from a flame out, it can be restarted from the energy of the plane moving through the air. At higher altitudes, if you keep the airspeed at about 325 or so, it will spin the fan enough that you have a chance of igniting the fuel again to get it going.
