I have only limited experience, having only been to about 15 of the 50 states... but from what I've experienced, Maine has a frigid dry cold, and Ohio can be pretty darn humid and cold.

Montana once had -70 below. But probably all those Canada-bordering states get a bit nippy.

Death Valley...the hottest and the coldest spot in the usa. Then again, Mack Lake in Michigan can get pretty cold.

I would guess Washington state is colder than Maine because of the direction of the ocean currents.

Rogers Pass is on State Highway 200 about 40 miles northwest of Helena.
