the war on terror is a joke. how can you take down an emotion? its all a big excuse for america to throow its weight around. so if osama won the war on terror, i'd be amazed that he actually managed to find and defeat an abstract concept.

It's impossible for anyone to "Win" the so called "War on Terror". The way it is now, with the U.S. and it's allies supposedly "Winning", everyone still lives in fear, and taking down just one or two major Islamic radicalist figures won't do a thing to actually lessen whatever threat there may be of terrorist attacks, because it only takes one pissed off zealot to perpetrate an effective attack, and the number of those is actually going *Up* every day the "War on Terror" goes on. So essentially, there's no way for the U.S. to "Win". And on the other hand, unless the "Terrorists" somehow manage to actually kill topple every major economic institution of the Western world in one fell swoop, there's no feasible way they could ever actually dominate another nation or force its people to convert. Considering the fact that after more than half a decade occupying the Middle East, the U.S. still hasn't won "The Hearts and Minds of the People" and still has to deal with "Insurgents" trying to defend their faith and their homeland by any means necessary, by what stretch of the imagination could one think that a Muslim Militant group could ever occupy and effectively dominate a nation with the size and relative social stability of most Western nations? (Which is basically what they'd have to do in order to "Win" the "War on Terror"). Neither side can ever "Win", so at this point even continuing the "War on Terror" serves only one purpose. Namely: To keep the war going.
