Some people have really bad judgement

To many people, computers are an enigma wrapped in a riddle. They seem intelligent one minute and as dumb as a bag of hammers the next. They seem to work fine, then stop working for no apparent reason. Computers don't reveal their secrets easily. They may come with dozens of handy software tools that remain hidden in menus or at the prompt (something many people don't even know about). They don't come with lessons or effective user manuals. They rarely work right out of the box. Their parts and software are made (in the case of PCs) by potentially hundreds of different companies who have no clue what the other stakeholders are doing - or even the end user for that matter. I could go on... So with all that in mind, it's not hard to imagine a typical user being not only dumbfounded by its operation, but having no clue what to do when things go wrong. I think they personify their computers. How many times have you heard "my computer doesn't like me" or "my computer has a mind of its own"? When you deal with an inanimate object as though it were an entity, you'll do strange things to it.
