YES! I am also confused by this. The Bible describes this would happen.. 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; This is such a descriptive verse.. People with 'itching ears' needing someone who will scratch their particular itch. I don't want to do that.. I will find a church that says I don't have to do that.. I don't think that is necessary for me.. I will find a teacher who will tell me its ok. The teachers are plentiful.. there is a lot of money to be made in religion. I see the Bible as a manual of assembly. Each instruction, each recipe, each jot, each tittle needs to be carefully weighed and applied to one's life. If the manual is not followed.. how can the assembly be correct?

The other thing, roughly 65 of Americans state that the Bible is authentic and holds most answers to life's basic questions.. of those 28% don't read the Bible at all.. 36% occasionally, 15% semi-regularly. It is a frightening statisic that most Christians haven't read the Bible cover to cover. No wonder these teachers can get away with what they are saying and teaching falsely.

The Bible is the “saying of man,” the new testament was written over a period 4-7 generations after the crucifixion. It was later translated and edited by the catholic church as a tool to gain wealth and power over the masses. While God is infallible the and the church and the Bible most certainly are not. In the way it has been written the Bible is also open to interpretation. I’m not trying to put down spirituality or religious beliefs in any shape or form, but trying to point out that organized church doctrine isn’t necessarily the same thing, and the Bible may be a pretty good starting place, but it was not printed by god in the form we read today.

Realistically, Christians shouldn't get absorbed into the teachings of men without checking it's biblical basis. It is foolish and misguided of those to place the words and opinions of men before the word of God and ultimatlely reading/studying the bible should take priority over listening to the person who speaks with most authority. I don't think many sound Christians would fall into this trap for very long The bible always should take precidence with NO exceptions!

I find this to be a very interesting question, given that the Bible is nothing more than a collection of the sayings and doings of men. Additionally, Jesus was one of the biggest heretics of all, and was executed for it (at least according to the Bible). No, I haven't answered your question, because it seems to be one big logical paradox.
