  • ENFORCE state and federal laws that already exist. Where do these people come from. Have they migrated to Miami from Nebraska, Idaho, Ohio and Maine because its cold up there? I think probably not. Miami is an expensive place to live. How many are illegal alians? Thats what they need to address, then enforce the law. From www.city-data.com Races in Miami: Hispanic (65.8%) Black (22.3%) White Non-Hispanic (11.8%) Other race (5.4%) Two or more races (4.7%) American Indian (0.5%)
  • we have the same problem in Vancouver...also because (I believe) of our mild climate. I don't think that there are any easy answers to this..It is all too easy for people to become homeless..I don't think that many choose this option(but some do)...also a lot of the homeless are mentally ill who should be in care facilities...{there but for the grace of god...}
  • I lived in Miami and have seen it for myself. I can't give you a solution but if your "queezy" about going past these unfortunate people then you had better watch where you travel. What worries me more than the homeless are the predators that attack and kill those that are homeless. These people will attack anybody that has something they want. Me??_ ?? I live in Boca Raton where all the rich people live , (ha, ha, ha, ) but even up here in Palm Beach County, poverty sticks its ugly head out!!!!!!.....I went recently to Downtown Miami attended a convention and no crime incidents happened at all..had a great time etc. and made it back home alive!!!!!
  • This world is full of homeless and the problem is in passing the buck and everyone thinking it is another's problem to be dealt with. I can not tell you what needs to be done to solve this issue but I can tell you how my town deals with it. Grant you my town is small and would seem it does not compare at all but, When we see someone here who is struggling we help them out. many will check and see if any jobs are around, some take them in so they can be clean and well fed for looking for work. Sure we are small and the problem would seem small compared to the big cities but you must also see that our resources are smaller as well. The thing is we do not throw scraps to those who can't afford food we feed them and help them to help themselves, we don't build shelters but we open up our homes. The more we help the less that need help.
  • well the city and its people should get of their fat arses and help them instead of stepping over there fellow human beings !!!!...buld some low cost houses ...but thats not going to happen ...no money to be made is there
  • man that's really a strange attitude that you have,so your country makes homeless people in iraq and afganastan,but the homeless people your country makes abroad you give them a band aid and tent say you are sorry. but back home your people need help and you tell your needy get a job get a life.One thing i do know the needy are just that needy and hey man give them a break, these people are your people, americans,yeah americans on the same side
  • Your derogatory remarks are insulting, but I agree it is a huge problem through-out the U.S. The leading causes are mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction, and illegal aliens. Since you are concerned talk to your congressmen and women, join your local homeless coalition (every major city has one headed by the city government). The drug problem is probably the greatest in Miami, it's something Miami really needs to clean up if they want to reduce crime and homelessness.
