no, if you do they resent you for it.

No. They are teenagers; how would you go about getting teenagers to do things they don't want to do?
-
No I don't think it's right to force something like that. Who and whatever their dad is - he is still their dad.
-
I really laughed at this. First of all, how would you go about "making" them do anything? They would just ignore him, or not use the word "dad" intentionally. Second, He is not their father to them, and while he may make a good father figure, thats all he will be. Once he realizes that (and you do too) things will go much smoother in your house.
-
No, you should not. first of all, how would you go about making four teens do anything? also, although he may make a good father figure he is not their dad, they still hold that place for their real dad, wherever or whatever he is. it is their decision and they can still have the same relationship with their adoptive father whatever they call him.
-
There is no way you can "make" them call him Dad. IF they aren't comfortable calling him Dad, then respect that and leave it alone. They may come around at some point down the road, but if they don't - what's wrong with that? He ISN'T their Dad, after all.
-
By attempting to 'make them' you'll only cause problems - why do so? Leave them be to choose what they call your husband, something they feel comfortable with. Your teens will be more relaxed and I suspect as a result, so will you two, too.
