  • Are you serious??
  • Hinduism is a religion, colour has nothing to do with it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism has more.
  • Yes. The color of your skin has nothing to do with your religious beliefs.
  • The purpose of human life is to reawaken one's love for God. Devotion for God is not depending on race or religion.
  • Hinduism is a way of life and there are many whites that follow its practices. It is a tolerant religion that allows you to practice it at your pace sort of like a Montissori school. Even most Hindus follow it that way. As they get older, they learn to integrate the diversity into unity & they tend to appreciate more and more of what it is they have and follow it. In general, you will be welcome in temples and will be advised politely and with enthusiasm. May you have a wonderful time practicing Hinduism.
  • Hinduism is more of a way of living than a religion. Its original name is Sanatana Dharma(eternal order). That is the reason why there is no process of conversion in Hinduism, because everyone can follow this lifestyle called as Hinduism. Even a person worshiping Jesus is a Hindu, in Hinduism , he is a Bhakti Yoga(union through Devotion) follower. But if you want to follow different stream in Hinduism like Advaitha Vedanta, ISKCON etc Then there is no conversion. Just follow it.
  • As far as I can see on your image, your T-shirt is white, you are not. If you look acurately at the Hindu gods, you will see that there are some of very different color, such as green, blue and pink. So I don't think that color will be a problem.
  • word hindu has been given to the people of bharat varsh (India) by the persians and later the west. its really not a religious terms. hinduism is not specifically defined by anyone really. as i think, to be hindu u need to follow some fundamental concepts( you can take either a hindu philosophical approach or a devote approach) - there is only one GOD- he has no name, no shape we refer to him as brahman or OHM. it is impossible to imagine the ultimate's timeless form . we humans are very limited in our power or knowledge(words, etc) that we can never reach the pure him but we can celebrate him, make him beautiful, imagine how he must be (but we nmust never think that the image we are creating is the ultimate)so we make idols, beautiful forms our own satisfaction.oh! but if u dont wanna give him shape or gender or identity you remain a hindu, a satisfied hindu. - believe in either vedas (philosophical, common hindus dont knw much about vedas), puranas(relgious- common hindu approach. -you need to believe in the circular nature of humans life cycle rather than linear approach( like in Hinduism there is no hell and heaven- its birth, rebirth and moksha) -you need to choose one of the following path for your life, which ever you feel closest to 1) karma(your responsiblity in life, as a citizen, husband or wife etc), 2)gayana(knowledge- you seek knowledge, scienctist , poet etc) , 3)devotion (love - u love god and u spend your life for him) 4)dharma(duty- last but not least, it guides any of those 3 path you may choose for your life-- this assures that any path you choose you fulfill that fully with all you have) - you need to believe in the fact that expect God( brahma: the ultimate reality) and his soul(within us) nuthing is forever, if there is a costruction there has to be distruction. And thats why even the idols made for different representation of god are never kept forever- coz they are just idols not the ultimate himself/herself/itself if u think u believe in all this- you are already a hindu.
  • No, in order to be a Hindu, one must be a member of a caste and those not born into it are castless and outside of Hinduism. The idea that one can convert to Hinduism is something that Hindus would laugh at. It's a purely New Age invention.
  • Dear Mr Strong , May Superme Lord Bless you. But You don't need to be Hindu. Because there is nothing called Hinduism or Christianism or Sikhism or Islam. We don't find the word "Hindu" in any Vedic scripture. This "Hindu" word has come from the Muhammadan countries. They used to say the people of this part of the world, means, across the river Indus, they call "Hindas" or "Hindus." So actually, Hindu not..., that is not Hindu dharma. See the Only Religion "TO SERVE SUPERME LORD" By doing good works. Everyone should Follow "varnasrama-dharma, varnasrama: four varnas and four asramas. In the Bhagavad-gita, you'll find. In the Bhagavata you'll find. So really Indian civilization or Aryan civilization, Vedic civlization, means varnasrama-dharma. varnasramacaravata purusena parah puman visnur aradhyate pumsam nanyat tat-tosa-karanam So this human form of life, here, according to the instruction of Rsabhadeva, is not meant for working hard simply for eating, sleeping, mating and defending. This is not human form of life. Now Please Read this Carefully - ANIMALs do eating , mating , sleeping and Humans also do eating , mating and sleeping. But This is not the motive of life. We should serve everyone. Create a serrvice Attitude in your self. Now senses are driving us - control your senses and then You can drive your senses in Krsna Bhakti. According to Anicient Vedic (Indian) Scriptures : There are only Four Types of CASTES (So Remember there is No One called Hindu or American or Sikh etc - all are same) 1> BRAHAMAN - who does good works. Who serve Supereme Lord by worshipping by doing their duties. and who are always in MODE OF GOODNESS. WHo are compltely vegeterian away from Anger , passion and fear and attachment.Who keep donating because they know that Wealth Given to them is only for welfare of Human society. 2> KSHATRIYA - Who are in Mode of Passion. Who likes spcicy food. Who are kind of fighters and in Mode of passion. 3> Vaishya - They are in Mode of Passion and Mode of Ignorance. 4> SUDRA - who are in mode of Ignorance and eat nonveg. and are not able to ontrol their senses. and It is said that in KALIYUA - today's world - every one is SUDRA - in MODE OF IGNORANCE. I would strongly suggest you to read and Follow "BHAGVAD GITA AS IT IS - Read this and then let me know if yow would be able to identify yourself as white or black or hindu or muslim. You can read this online : www.topshareware.com/Bhagavad-gita-As-It-Is-(pdf)-download-43025.htm
  • namaskar / varakam / jai sri ram !!! hi my white brother / sister Its a great honour when a non-hindu wish to enter sanatan hinduism. I definitely help you to undergo through this . Just follow my bottom lines. That all CONVERSION to HINDUISM TAKE PLACE IN ARYA SAMAJ CONCERNS MORE VIVIDLY. While traditions vary greatly, all Hindus rely on the Vedas as scriptural authority and generally attest to the following nine principles: 1) There exists a one, all-pervasive Supreme Being who is both immanent and transcendent, both creator and unmanifest Reality. 2) The universe undergoes endless cycles of creation, preservation and dissolution. 3) All souls are evolving toward God and will ultimately find moksha: spiritual knowledge and liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Not a single soul will be eternally deprived of this destiny. 4) Karma is the law of cause and effect by which each individual creates his own destiny by his thoughts, words and deeds. 5) The soul reincarnates, evolving through many births until all karmas have been resolved. 6) Divine beings exist in unseen worlds, and temple worship, rituals, sacraments, as well as personal devotionals, create a communion with these devas and Gods. 7) A spiritually awakened master or satguru is essential to know the transcendent Absolute, as are personal discipline, good conduct, purification, self-inquiry and meditation. 8) All life is sacred, to be loved and revered, and therefore one should practice ahimsa, nonviolence. 9) No particular religion teaches the only way to salvation above all others. Rather, all genuine religious paths are facets of God's pure love and light, deserving tolerance and understanding. See: Hinduism. Sanatan Hinduism believes in one god with exactly 33 crore forms(exact number)with 5 sects ( according to number of followers: VAISHNAVA (following VISHNU as supreme diety), SHAIVA (following SHIVA as supreme diety), SHAKTA (following DURGA as supreme diety), RISHI (following 5 dieties as AGNI, VAYU, INDRA, SURYA)like santhals, lodha tribes in india, VEDANTRIC (following BRAHMA as supreme diety)and 4 varnas( not caste system as racist muslims/christians speak)like BRAHMANNA (deal with preaching of sanatan hinduism to hindus and prolethisizing to nastik non-hindus ,KHATRIYA (soldiers),VIASHIYA(merchants), SUDRA(those who physically provide man power) on the basis of profession and not heredity according to rig veda . IN BHAGAWAT GITA, IT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGE TO LET NASTIK NON-HINDUS TO REVERT TO HINDUISM ONLY WILLINGLY, BUT NONE CAN LEAVE HINDUISM ! IN HINDUISM, LEAVING YOUR FAITH IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED ! THERE IS FORMAL PROCESS TO REVERT TO SANATAN HINDUISM -- SUDDHI PROCESS / SUDDHI PROCESS THERE ARE 3 PROCESS : a)chanting RIG VEDA MANTRAS in YAGNA including gayatri mantra. b)must accept that god is one and only one with 33 crore forms. GOD is omnisenscent, who is both immanent and transcendent, both creator and unmanifest Reality. c)must accept the endless life cycle of rebirth(moksha),rebirth done as long karma is resolved, ahimsa, and universe go through creation, preservation and dissolution. ....BASIC TENETS OF SANATAN HINDUISM OF BHAGAWAT GITA AS REFERRED LATER ! d)NAAMKARAN ( here a willing nastik non-hindu keep a sanatan hindu name). EVERY SANATAN HINDU MUST CHANT GAYATRI MANTRA(ROOT MANTRA) 3 TIMES A DAY (TIMMINGS :AFTER BATH AND BEFORE BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER ), AND SURYAPRANAAM (BEFORE SUNRISE)AT ONE TIME ! THIS IS MOST BASIC THING, OTHER THAN THAT YOU CAN DO BHAJAAN AND DEVOTIONAL SONGS ( BUT NOT MANDATORY !) A PERSON is considered sanatan hindu only when he accept and follows by heart the basic tenets of sanatan hinduism comming either reverting to SANATAN HINDUISM or from sanatan hindu descendents. ( A MYTH IS MADE THAT YOU BECOME HINDU ONLY FROM HINDU PARENTS AND NOT BY REVERSION TO SANATAN HINDUISM AND ANOTHER MYTH IS HINDUISM IS FREE-FLOWING FAITH..... THESE ARE ALL FLAWS .... THOSE WHO BELIEVE THESE ARE NON-BELIEVERS NASTIKS). BYE MY DEAR SISTER / BROTHER
  • 1>I better not call it as Hinduism but as "Sanatan Dharma" meaning "religion for all". No one needs to get converted to this religion. You just need to follow it. One can believe a stone as his god and at the same time follow "sanatan dharma". 2>"sanatan dharma" provides humans with philosophies of life and not hard line laws as other religons. 3>In this "sanatan dharma" there is no caste system. The so called brahmin, KSHATRIYA, Vaishya and SUDRA were the titles given to people on the basis of their nature. A sudra (an ignorant) could become a brahmin(pure) just by changing his nature. This latter turned into hard line caste system which was then got defined by birth and not by nature.
  • Any one can believe in any religion. You say you are white means You are a Christian..is that right..so you should not change your religion you can pray to Hindu gods but you do not have to leave that has brought you up to what you are..you have to believe in god and god is present in three forms in life......remember it in your soul beneath yourself then in your guru that is your teacher and then the god you believe in..you can pray god in all three ways respect your soul and inner self respect teacher and respect the religions and gods .............tc
  • Dont become hindu, their beliefs are false.
  • The word "Hindu" is given by the foreigners to the people living across the river Sindhu (Indus). Their way of life is called Hinduism. The basic scriptures known as "Vedas" and "Vedantha" (Knowledge) contain the philosophic treatises of various spiritual approaches of realizing the self, which any one can follow. There is no prioritization to become a Hindu necessary.
  • Sure why not, I don't think race is a issue.
  • Do what Nike does. Just do it.
  • I've seen white Hindus

  • There must be a way 4 u to become(or follow) hinduism.I have heard that there is conversion done at amritananthamai's centres 4 those who wish to become a hindu.bt i'm not sure about that. Also there must be a way needed for all to follow (or to become)the religion they wish to be.All the religion(christian,muslim..etc)has the way 4 it.but hindus willnot have this method commonly.I know basically hinduism is not a religion.bt the community around us is not accepting this.all will tell lik tat.but wen a person wishes 4 an intercaste marriag then they won't allow it.y? all are telling that all religions come under hinduism.then y this diversity.so insid everyone ther is somthing..... which is what they are saying. I'm asking that if a person who is hindu can change to any other religion then y shouldn't they[people in other religion who wishes to be a hindu] not able to change to our religion.our community[hindus] consider a person who is converted to other community as a person in other religion.then y shouldn't we not considering thos who wishes to be a hindu or thos who wants to be a hindu .....
  • I have no idea.I to am white, and am seeking to become Hindu.I wrote a long letter where I poured my heart out to a Hindu temple about many personal things in my life in a round about way to seek whether or not it was proper for me to become Hindu being a white man.I asked if I was intruding, and expressed that I would not if it wasn't allowed.I got no response. So I wrote another letter a week latter and asked directly for information on becoming Hindu. It's day three with no response. This made me very distraught.I don't know if they received my email or not.How ever,I found a phone number to a follower of Hindu who said the color and race do not matter at all.And that all walks of life are accepted. She said I must go to the temple in Tampa and talk to one of the leaders about it,and would not say much more.Only that she is just a follower and would not want try to give spiritual advice above her station.I thanked her for that, and have come to think that Hinduism is more beautiful then I previously thought.I'm just still trying to get over my fear of walking into a temple for the first time.I want to walk into the temple that I wrote my letters to because of my transportation problems. But,like I said I don't know whether or not they got my emails.I gave my name, and would not want to feel awkward going there.I am sure that I am just being paranoid. So to answer your question.Yes,you can become Hindu.I have had a God sized hole inside for more then 25 years.I have been an atheist for that time. The older that I get,the harder it is to maintain. On Gandhi's birthday I found this. And it hit me pretty hard. Here it is. Just as my denial or ignorance of the existence of an earthly power will avail me nothing, even so,my denial of God and His law will not liberate me from it's operation.Where as humble and mute acceptance of divine authority makes life's journey easier even as the acceptance of earthly rule makes life under it easyer. Mahatma Gandhi I think I should just go one day soon.Just show up and be humble.
  • To those who say that he does not need to become Hindu.I think it's more of a cultural thing.Being a white man in America I have no culture. And the culture of India is rich and beautiful and worthy of being adopted. It could also be about the lack of morals in America and the desire to have them, and friends who share them.I to am seeking to be Hindu.Or if proper,to worship as Hindus worship. My answer to the question at hand is yes you can.But like all things in life, there will be those who are happy to accept you,and those who will never accept you.So be prepared for the struggle. And don't be to upset by those who put you down.God has placed those people on this earth for a reason. And one reason may be to see how devout you are.Just remember, becoming Hindu,or worshipping as Hindus worship is not some thing that you pick up like bowling. It is not a fade to be used and then discarded.I think that a lot of white people turn to Hindu just to try it on like a new shirt.Well.it's not a shirt.Once you decide to turn to Hinduism,it should be for life. And if so,thou some may still not accept you.But most will at least respect your devotion. What an insult to the Hindu people to think that Hindu is just the flavor of the month.Be sure on your decision my freind. And good luck in life.
  • Yes, I am a white Hindu. If you believe, you are.
  • You already are. Every Human is born in atheist Hindu way of life, before s/he's corrupted to some Organized religion/sect. The lucky ones remain Hindu and enjoy a Guilt-free, ethical-moral & successful life. The dull drown into ritual, the middle (mild-dull) into spiritualism, the true just be themselves in the natural way-of-life. Be Alive. Be awake. Stay Hindu. All the best!
  • you can but you have to be serious. dont make a joke out of it by converting again.
  • Hinduism is an ancient and practical way-of-life without mandatory ritual, so it is immune or impervious to 'conversion in' or 'out of' it. Hinduism is unique in that at once it is synonymous with Paganism, Atheism and Pantheism! * Broadly speaking, if you apply the missionary criteria of 'original sin' to every life process (passing urine stool and PARTICULARLY enjoying SEX); one could call the same life-processes [e.g. breathing, sleeping, eating and sex] added with an ethical-moral way-of-life as 'the original virtue' or 'practising Hinduism'. By such analogy, every person is born Hindu as well as atheist before being corrupted by their parent's religion (including organized, ritualistic Hinduism controlled by te priest-class and practised like a typical 'organised religion') ** Add to this all eco-friendly practices like cremating the dead and not wasting time on grave worship, the world is turning Hindu slowly but surely. That's the only was forward. *** Thus Hinduism was there before any other 'religion', as ancient and practical way-of-life, and it's the most plausible & practical way-of-life for the safe future of mankind. So chill, you are already a Hindu!
  • Hindus are born. Not made. You can follow the faith but you are not an actual Hindu per se.
  • Perhaps. I know a white South African guy who -- he and his wife, who was born in Germany, both became Indian sikhs. They wore turbans and did the whole thing. They sent their son for all his schooling to India. So, perhaps you could speak to a local Hindu organisation and ask them what is involved.
  • You folks are some lost mother fuckers. LOL. Peace Love Dope.
  • heck yea ur da best white guy i know if that hindu god said no to u i would grab my angel wings and fly up to him and give him a knuckle sandwhich b/c nobody messes with u and hurts my bf's feeling thats how much i care about u i love you baby tits
