Actually, I do have a job. One that requires me to work 40+ hours a week designing new products for a large wireless phone company that you have probably heard of. So, how do I have time to answer all of these questions? I make time. Answerbag is my relief from my job. It's kind of taking a smoke break. I just stop working, answer some questions, and then go back to work when I am done. Also, I spend a lot of my days sitting on conference calls listening to a bunch of people talking about new, cool things. As long as I am sitting here staring at my computer, listening intently to a call, I hop on Answerbag and read the newest posts. I've gotten pretty fast at reading them, so I pick the interesting ones, like yours, and answer them. So, yes, some of us do have real jobs, and still can manage to get a few answers in every day. I hope that answer did not come off as snotty in any way. I didn't mean for it to, and I hope it answered your question. Edited answer: I was afraid it was too much....done :)

Yes, we do. Or I do, at any rate. However, about a month after I began visiting this site, I developed a condition that left me severely disabled - a compressed nerve caused by the arthritic deterioration of my lower spine. For a couple of months I was unable to walk or stand for more than a few minutes without experiencing excruciating pain. I could sit upright in a chair for an hour or two, but that was about my limit. The condition has become somewhat better since January, but I am remain unable to walk, stand, or sit for very long. I have spent some of this time providing answers to questions on Answerbag to help ease the "cabin fever". It is difficult for me to get out and about in the Canadian winter. Although I do not have access to my reference material at my workplace, I have a fairly extensive library at home and a lot of time on my hands, some of which I can spend sitting up. Some of the answers don't take much time to write, but I can spend an hour or more on more complex answers. I have a technical background and have spent the past quarter-century working in engineering R&D, in both technical and supervisory positions. My personal interests and activities complement most of the answers I have written.

I'd love to answer you, but I gotta get to work.

Yes, a lot of people on AB work with computers so they AB when work gets a little slow.

I am on AB several minutes out of every hour on average. I am awake, between 11 am and 2 am, approx 15 hours. Sometimes I stay on for a full hour, and then off a couple of hours. I am a homemaker, and I manage to get my regular work done throughout the day. I watch TV at night while I am answering and working on various tasks, as well. Right now, the laundry is running.

Yes I have a full time professional career and except for Saturday nights I am usually on AOL from about 7.30 - 12.00pm not solid time. I answer questions while watching TV or sometimes working. I often take time off and maybe on here five evenings per week . I never or very rarely sign out so it looks as if I am here every day,

There are many reasons. Some work more than other.

I do have a full time job. but I have a lot of down time in between assignments. I work very hard when I do work so I don't feel bad about my down time.
