buy some like really good gum or mints and take them out to have one and then be like oh these are new! and really good do you want one? im sure he'll take them. who wouldnt.

Get him hooked on some Orbit mint gum. I sometimes have "trench mouth" and my husband tells me because he loves me. I don't know if it's from my stomach, bacteria on my tongue. I even brush and floss my teeth good and there is no rotting cause I was at the dentist last week. If you and he need to communicate, just stand back a little. If he says "I don't have cooties".. you can say, "well your breath is a little fierce right now, would you like a mint?"

Give him an anonymous package with mints in it!

I would just lay it on the line. If it bothers you, it probably bothers others as well. Someone(I nominate you) needs to either give the guy a referral to a good dentist, or be straight about the problem. It's not really going to resolve itself. IMO!

Be straightforward about it. If you do something like leave tic tacs around him all day long, he's gonna be annoyed and hurt. If you just come out with it and say "Look. I gotta talk to you about something..." he'll later be appreciative and respect you.

Listen, many guys take it better than you think. Tell him it would really be nice if he took a breath mint and maybe offer one to him. You can also start out with a simple ice breaker like "did you just finish eating something bad...cuz you breath kind of smells terrible." See where this goes then. Chronic bad breath is kind of like skipping personal hygiene, it's a social grace that many people don't spend time on to notice. Good luck.
