  • I had a cat once that began vomiting white foam. It turned out that she had swallowed (rather, attempted to swallow—I think it became stuck in her throat) a piece of tinsel from a Christmas tree. The not drinking is disturbing. If she's vomiting she's losing fluids. If she's not drinking she'll become dehydrated. Not good for any animal. Really not good for cats because of their high-protein diets and extra load on the kidneys. Do you normally feed her wet or dry food? You might try wet, if you haven't already. The smell is more of an enticement to eat, and the wet foods are high in water content. Onthe other hand, if she's got some sort of blockage in the throat or esophagus that's causing this (as my cat did) she's not going to feel much like eating anyway. You really need to get her to the vet asap. Good luck.
  • Thanks for your response. I took her to the vet on Friday and he took x-rays and it showed nothing in her stomach. He put her on Science Diet and medication for diarrhea. He thought she could have a blockage, but she was drinking at that time and gobbling up her wet food. He then suggested I try to incorporate some of my wet dog food and I did, but it had meaty chunks and I noticed she had a hard time chewing. I immediately thought of her throat or mouth. I called my regular vet and she is going in tomorrow for a check up. The vet I went to , I don't like, but we live in a very small town and my regular vet was on vacation until tomorrow. This vet has mis-diagnosed my dogs before. Once he told me "nothing is wrong with that dog" and two weeks later he was in the hospital for spinal surgery on two slipped disk. She ate tonight, wet food and she was out wanting to chase horses. But I am keeping a close eye on her and will keep you updated on the outcome. Thanks again, I am on top of it. I show these dogs and have a lot of time and money invested in them.
