  • Hmmmm...the daughter is 19? I think she could handle it. I dunno if I'd say he's lying exactly (about them being together), but he's definitely not being honest with your friend. Maybe he doesn't wanna make her mad just in case there's a chance they might reconicile.
  • If he can't be upfront with his live-in "ex" about his new beau, then there's a good chance she isn't the number one woman in his life. I would hightail it out of there pronto! The thing is, I would never be comfortable with my boyfriend having his ex move back in with him. It's great that he wants to "keep the peace" for his grown child, but I don't think their living situation would have anything to do with behaving in a civilized manner. And I'm sure his ex-wife has at least one true friend, or a reliable family member who could help her save money. Besides, if your friend is a big secret to her, she probably hasn't been back to his living quarters in a while. How would she know if they were sharing a room or not?
  • If the child is 19? Then the man is full of crap and your friend needs to tell him to either come clean or hit the road. Honesty is the number one reason a relationship makes it or breaks it. If this child is 19 and the excuse is not to upset the child? Then he is a snake and she should call him out on it. I don't buy that crap for a second. Something is very fishy there!
  • YES!!! If he and his ex were just friends then he would tell her about the girlfriend but since he's hideing that then he's lying! He wants his cake and eat it too!
  • The "child" is 19? She is an adult, she can handle hearing this. Plus, wouldn't she already know her parents aren't together if her mother moved in with her dad? They had to be living separately at some time. I think he is lying to your friend and it also seems very creepy to me that he is living with his (I assume very young) girlfriend and his ex-wife. It's just really creepy. What about keeping the peace for his new girlfriend?
  • Wow, I am currently in this very same situation. It was hard but I had to let the relationship go. After dating off and on for almost 7 years noone in his life even knew that I existed. My guess is that this was because he was hoping for a reconciliation with his exwife all along. Whatever the reason, I was not going to sit at home alone with he played house with his exwife.
