  • Look Ducky. A representative government exists because democracy as it was practiced in ancient Greece could no longer be used today. Why? Simply because the population is too big, citizens could no longer debate issues with all of them present at a certain venue. That's why people just elect their representatives to Congress. People give these lawmakers the power to craft laws that would govern their lives.
  • The people elect representatives who are suppose to go to congress and do what the people putting them there would want them to do. Usually they just go and do what they want instead, which screws it all up.
  • There are many forms of Representative Goverments. The US has a form of Representative Democracy. Communism, on the other hand, is a more literal form of Representative government. Representative governments consist of officials elected by popular vote who are believed to have the best interest of the people in mind, and therefore are representing those interests.
