  • No we can't It will be marked as a duplicate and rejected by the system.
  • I looked at the comment thread on "The Troll"'s answer and I answered the question you were referring to. 1) To get answers to an unanswered question, one possibility is what you just did: asking a question such as this one, or pointing directly at the other question. But if you are too direct, it will not be well-seen. 2) You could also ask the question again, but you must beware of the possibility of duplicate flagging. Here is how could you avoid the flagging: - use a very different formulation, so that when you are asking your question, the original question does not appear on the result list for similar questions. To ask a question, I usually do not use the "Ask a Question" setting. If you do this, you get a short list of similar questions. Instead of doing this, I use the "Search for Answers" setting. In this case, I get a "Category Results" and a "Question Results", the later with a lot of possible questions on many pages. If you know that you are asking a duplicate, you should possibly check more than one result page for your original question. In this case, especially if your original question did not get much attention, it could be possible that nobody finds out. However, this is not a very good idea, because you would be generating duplicates, which would be bad for the database. 3) If the "similar" question is really not the same, because of some differences that you introduced, it could avoid being a duplicate. 4) Another possibility would be to answer your question yourself. It must not be a real answer. It should be somewhat interesting, such as giving supplementary details. Or you could even try to really answer your own question. The advantage of this is that your question will be pushed again at the top of the list, giving it a new bigger chance to get answered. However, you must know that this often not well seen. But if you do it only once, and at least a few days or weeks after you asked your question, it could be better accepted. 5) You could also point at this question in an other answer or in a comment. It would be better if there were some relation, in this case. You could also try to ask one of your AB-Friends to do that for you in a comment thread where they are. 6) A great proportion of questions get answered, sooner or later. So just be patient. Unfortunately, it is sometimes only a formal answer, which does not really address or answer the question. But as it helps your question to come again at the top of the list, you will probably not flag it. This is the reason why quite few answers get flagged. 7) Beware that many people could get annoyed if you are very insisting on getting an answer. Some newbies ask 3 or 4 times the same question in various formulations until someone notices and critisize them. They often get DR in such a case. If you question does not get answered, maybe it was just too specific, too technical, too difficult or for some other reason. Try to find out why.
  • Thank you. I have used number 4 a couple of times, to add details to a question and it works.
  • Yes you can, but it will eventually be flagged as a duplicate.
