I'm more worries about the sharks and rays in the water.
-
ehh sometimes..
-
Not really
-
No, when I was a child I thought a jellyfish was a balloon and picked it up. I learned my lesson. I avoid them now. Not a problem.
-
Yes, terrified. I'm also terrified of shark attacks, crabs, fish, and seaweed.
-
no, i only fear stingrays...
-
I swam into a flotilla of jellyfish in Panama City, Florida, about 40 years ago. They were quite invisible to me and made me suffer. Since then, I am always concerned about the possibility that they are nearby, but I try not to let my concern spoil the fun. On the west coast, it's just tar balls that bug me but jellyfish are so much worse.
-
No...Not in Lake Michigan...
-
I worry more about getting ridiculed by the people around me for wearing ultra-sexy swimwear j/k!!!
-
I don't worry but I do pay attention to beachside warning signs, shuffle my feet when entering and stay aware of my surroundings in case there are changes in water conditions or content.
-
I ski in lakes and swim in lakes and pool. I dive in the ocean and fish out of the boat. My philosophy regarding the ocean is that it is someone else's turf. If I am under the water, I am part of it, if I'm on top of the water, I'm bait. ;o)
-
Not unless there is a bunch of them in the waters that day. There is always the chance. Even a dead jellyfish tenticle can sting you, but I don't react too badly to them, so I don't agonize over it.
-
That is exactly why I don't go to the beach anymore. I have been stung so many times as a kid.
-
I get in the water with them. See here's a pic from Mexico.
-
Well, I don't know about the rest of the world, but I DO KNOW here in Hawaii 'they' -- those nasty jellyfishers and/or box jellyfish -- ONLY arrive ten days after the full moon. They stay for a few days and then leave. Its some kind of mating thing! http://www.aloha.com/~lifeguards/jelyfish.html
-
I live in western Washington and yes there here, but I do not worry as I have never been stung by one nor do I know anyone who has.
-
No. Mediterranean jellyfish aren't dangerous. But they sting like hell! i'm glad they're not Australian, you die if that one stings you. So it can be worse.
-
I was in the Gulf of Mexico in August 2004 and I don't think one actually stung me but maybe just touched me or brushed by me. I had some numbness and pins-and-needles sensations and a little stinginess/tightness but from what I've heard of actual stings mine wasn't that bad.
-
nah, being eaten by a shark, bt now i have a fear of octupus seeing one attacked me at easter, (i was in a kayack) every one on shore was laughing at me! lol)
-
I have been there so much I don't think about it.
-
YES, Terribly! and also sharks. I've never been stung/bitten by either though.
-
I have had three wrap around me, and I have never been stung. Its really weird.
-
No, but I will now! thanks a lot
-
heck yaa.... it hurts!! I get scared about shark attacks, especially if there are lots of surfers or a lot of turtles; I can really freak myself out :)
-
YAAAAAA OF COURSE ..
-
yes! I've been stung before and it took months for the marks to fade.
-
afraid of water...so stay on beach!!
-
No, I worry about falling off a mountain though
-
No. I worry more about showing too much flesh ;)
-
Nah, life is too short to worry about stuff. Something like that, anyway.
-
nup, im more worried about the couple of 6 meter great whites that have been spotted close to shore at the beach i go to!! ahhh! ;)
-
Not since we had a swarm of them in 1964. They were a fairly mild species anyway- not like those man-o-wars that they have in Florida, those sea wasps wherever, or those nasty box jellies in Australia.
-
There's no jellyfish at the beaches I go to. I worry more about getting stung by a parking ticket. Why do tourists always get targeted by the local police, to shake dollars out of them?
-
No I dont think about it tbh, whats the point your on holiday too relax!
-
I should have, what happened to me was I went to a beach in FLA. and no-one was in the water , they were sitting on the beach so stupid me jumps in, wow wow owwww! get stung by 40 billion yeah, 40 BILLION jellyfish! Guess what? Everyone but ME knew about the jellyfish alert was on! HA HA HA! Man, was I DUMB!!
-
of course i do,i hate jelly fishes.but i don't want to keep that in my mind so i can enjoy the sea. and i wouldn't go to a beach that is known to have jelly fishes.
-
I have been to the beach many times but have never worried about getting stung by a jellyfish where I was.
-
If they are visible on the beach yes. I was stung by one when I was just 4-5 years old in the shallow water in California and I still remember the pain.
-
Not on the beach, but maybe in the sea!!!
-
Not around here (NH) but I understand they are all over the place in Nova Scotia (Can.) I expect the atlantic currents bring them there from warmer waters.
-
I have a fear of the water so I don't go into the ocean at all - not even up to my ankles so I think I'm safe. :)
-
Naw, when I go to the beach, I usually just see sting rays. Those are what I'm afraid of. Not Jellyfish. =)
-
never.
-
no i just go running in to the ocean and go out as far as i can to play in the waves. although i have steped on a crab or two while in the ocean. but i dont let that ruin my fun.
-
yes
-
no, the sharks worry me more lol
-
yes, and stepping on sting-rays, having crabs bite my toes, sun-poisoning, drowning from an undertow and getting eaten by a shark are pretty high on my list also.
-
not really worried about it, go to the beach most ever summer, many places from OR coast along the CA coast. I love to wade into the ocean but usually only up to my knees. Guess I've just been lucky, no jellyfish, no crabs. step on a sea shell once in a while thats about it and not even them as much as I use too. They just don't come in with the tide the way they use too either. Mainly I'm there for the beauty of the sea, she's like a small child who is forever changeing.
-
no, there is the jelly fish season so whenever i go somewhere i research when the most jellyfish are there :)
-
No,I actually go looking for them.I think they're really intresting to watch and geting stung for it is just a formality.I just ignore it and it does eventually die down.I usually even hold them to get a better look.
-
If you go to Corpus there are tons of them. I've been stung before and it ain't fun. So yeah I worry alittle but you really can't have fun when you worry so If I see one I just move away to a different and much clearer spot.
-
All the time! I wear flip flops just to prevent stepping on one!
-
Not really ... In some venezuelan beaches you can find very small jellyfish (like a quarter or so), but I don't care about them
-
Not really. Actually I have never encounter one as yet.
-
jellyfish sting that would just itch, no because there's always vinegar but the big big ones that are scary and make you paralyzed--- hellyeah! hahaha
-
Yes, I do. I'm actually really funny about jellyfish.
-
I do keep my eyes peeled for them but I don't let them get me down.
-
No I don't dwell on that.
-
I just know when to go. Most of the time, these creatures are not in sight when I'm around. Lucky for me, I guess.
-
not unless theres jelly fish in the area really
-
A little bit because my sister has been bitten by it once when we're kids.
-
never worry about jelly fish...worry about shark instead
-
i was at the beach a few weeks ago and seen about 5 beached jellys in the mornin.of corce im scared!!!
-
I was stung! I only get in the ocean up to my knees but no more! We were at Daytona Beach, Fla. and it was full of jellyfish, that I couldn't see and there were no warnings!! I was covered in stings from my knees to my feet! That was really a miserable time! I used a whole tube of that stuff called Lanacort cream. It helped a little bit. The big problem was that the stings didn't come out at first. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible itching on my legs and I had huge red welts all over. So now I don't get in the ocean at all, I just walk along the beach and look for shells!!LOL
-
NO WHY SHOULD I. THERE`S TO MUCH FUN.
-
i am terrifyed of getting stung by jellyfish. you need to watch out not only for jelly fish, but for stingrays too. make sure you shuffle your feet when you walk!
-
Of course I worry I don't wnat no1 peeing on me to get the stinger out ouchhh
-
there are times when the Portugese man of War jelly fish are quite thick on South Padre Island in Texas. I have been stung several times but never too serious. One of easiest first aids for jellyfish sting is to rub the area with wet beach sand as soon as you can where you are at. I have done this each time and it takes the sting out.
-
oh yea, i hate them so much!! when the tide goes out.. you can see them all on the beach... looks like snot on the ground.. eww so gross
-
No....jelly fish are quite rare here only once in my life have I had to stay out of the water beacuse of them.
-
no i worry about getting sunburned
-
No,I was stung by one,and I worried about the first time I dated a man he had to pee on my foot to gget rid of the stinging...still blushing!
-
I have been stung by jeelfish in the neck ang leg. Hurts a bit, You take some wet sand and rub the area and the pain will go away. Or you can buy products made for the stinging.
-
WHEN I WENT TO FLORIDA ON VACATION, THE BEACH WAS INFESTED WITH TONS OF JELYFISH, SO I ENDED UP NOT GOING IN BECAUSE THEY WERE EVERWHERE! IT WAS SAD, BUT YOU CANT BE TO CAREFUL. JELLYFISH STINGS HURT.
-
never really worry about that, i worry more of having a close parking spot and a good spot on the beach.
-
NO,NEVER HAVE I WOULD JUST PUSH THEM AWAY.THIER ARE SO MANY VARIETYS. I JUST THOUGHT THESE WITH THE SHORT TENTACLES WERENT THAT BAD. BUT THEY COME IN SWARMS AT CERTAIN TIMES, IT`S NOT AS IF YOU SEE THEM ALL THE TIME.
-
Not so much, but I got stung last summer.
-
NO I DONT SWIM WITH THE JELLYFISH AND I DONT WORRY ABOUT WHATS OUT THEIR. I GREW UP ON THE ATLANTIC AND AM ON THE PACIFIC
-
yes eversince my brother got stung by one and i had to see him suffering..!! he was little at that time so evern worst..!!
-
Im Terrified Off Jelly Fish, i all ways have to look out for them. I am so scared really because i got stung by about 5 at once, and that REALLY hurts.
-
I do worry about it, having been "surrounded" by the little buggers last summer on the Italian Riviera. My boyfriend and I both got stung, and then we realized that we were the only ones in the water... he claims to be able to predict jellyfish occurences by the weather (he lives there), but one of the best things is to ask yourself why noone else is in the water - could be lurking jellyfish!
-
it depends on what weather or country.
-
if you ever do get stung by a jellyfish all you have to do is pee on the sting it usually helps
-
Actually I am aware of them, having been stung before. I'll move up or down the beach if I think I see one. I'm really not in to peeing on myself in public.
-
Nah, not really except if you see them, then whatch out, otherwise you won't enjoy swimming so much. but I've seen them passing by me while swimming, just be cautious, one stinged me this Des vacation, as well as bluebladders stings can be painfull.
-
I don't swim in the ocean but I've seen the specials on those boxer jellyfish in Australia and if I was there I'd be terrified
-
NO, I have been stung by a jellyfish and althogh it hurts like buggery you just get back in the water again. the world is 2/3 water and the odds of getting attacked by a water creatre is very rare. But saying that I did get nibbled by some evil little fish in croatia.
-
Well, where I live there aren't really jellyfish. If i was in Queensland or something I guess I might be concerned about box jellyfish, but what I really look out for is blue-ringed octopuses (octopi?) in rockpooly areas.
-
I have been stung by one, it was not fun. I was only about 7 or 8 years old. Jellyfish stings are rated right up there with getting sunburned!!
-
yes of course! but nobody would swim on a jellyfish infested area right!
-
yes in mexico, but it wasn't so bad. no worse than nasty mosquito bites. when i lived in hawaii the lifeguards and some locals had vinegar with them at all times. i started bringing it in my bag. it is better then pee.
-
That depends on the beach I go to. You have make sure from the locals or beach police about the nature of that particular place.
-
No as I do not go to the beach anymore.
-
oh, last summer i went to a beach. there were many jellyfish i had not seen before. i was curious and play with one of them. suddenly i was stung by one from behind...
-
NO! I will enjoy myself at the beach!
-
it depends, i just came back from Mauritius and there were absolutely no jelly fish what so ever! However, if you are scared from jelly fish don't go to Thailand, because when we went there a year ago, they stung my wife and she was in real pain for a long time... Thailand is a real beautiful place, but someone must take out the jelly fish from there!
-
No im more worried about the crabs out here. They are monsters. I have wondered are they mutant Crabs because their size is too big for me to comprihend. That is why i try not to walk in the water.
-
NO, YOU JUST HAVE TO WATCH WHATS OUT THERE.
