Is it safe to charge and run a laptop computer for hours using a UPS made for desktop computers?

    I agree - it's perfectly safe. In fact, you could probably get more life out of a UPS at full charge with a laptop, since a laptop typically uses less power than a desktop / monitor.

    A UPS - an Uninterruptible Power Supply - can be used to power just about any electrical device. Simply because a unit is marketed as a computer product does not mean it cannot be used to provide power for desktop computers, laptop computers, radios, stereos, televisions, or any other electrical device you want to have protected from power outages and the voltage irregularities that can accompany them.
