Yep. My dictionary says: 1 [N. Amer, vulgar] The fleshy part of the human body that you sit on [*Brit*, vulgar] External female sex organs

Yeah , but not one of the worser ones , somewhere in the middle of the range !!

In the U.S. I have only heard it used to refer to the hind end of a person, or their butt cheeks. I am surprised to find that it means anything else! Especially genitalia!

Quite true

Yes, in all the UK, Australia & NZ fanny refers to the female genitalia. In US, it refers to the buttocks.

Yes. I'm in my late twenties, and when I was a kid/teenager, we always said 'fanny' rather than 'pussy'. In fact, when I was 20 and I started going out with an older man, and he said 'pussy' rather than 'fanny', it made me collapse in a fit of giggles because it sounded so odd and old-fashioned. However, the word 'fanny' has gone out of fashion a bit I think. I haven't used it for years, or heard it. Anyone would know you meant vagina if you used it though, it has never been used to refer to the bum/arse here.

It does indeed. Check out this link for more information on the origin of the word "fanny" and other meanings. http://thewordguy.wordpress.com/2009/06/29/fanny

Yes. Front bottom, as opposed to back bottom.
