Intellect is the ability to learn. Being wise is proof of your intellect.

I know a few people that I would consider intellectual, that I do not consider Wise at all. Wisdom seems to come from experience in real life. Intellect seems to be more research based I am having a hard time putting this how I see it

Intelligence is knowing how to install/remove a car stereo quickly. Wisdom is knowing not to do this in the instructor's parking lot on a Navy base. Some of the dumbest people I ever met had the highest IQs, and those training for Nuclear Propulsion are no different.

I have heard that in many ways intellect is counterproductive to wisdom and spiritual reasoning. One who is intellectual about many things or even one specific thing or subject,is not necessarily wise. The knowledge learned only through intellectual learning can be restrictive and one would be close minded to other ways of thinking. Many saints, gurus, wise men,and mystics are not intellectual, but very highly wise, because of the lack of intellectual learning.
