Rule 147 of the Highway Code (UK readers only...)which says that you must stop completely at a STOP sign. The reason for this is that you can then assess the situation properly before proceeding....

When my kids start acting really sweet and helpful. When I catch sight of the calendar. When I think I misspelled a word. Sunrises, sunsets, moonrises, paintings,when I see a pink nutria rat in the bayou. Trying to decide whether or not I should read the directions. When I see a police car behind or ahead of me on the road. When my phone rings deciding whether I want to answer it.

When I make a mistake...or when I see someone else make a mistake. I think about how not to make it again or how to avoid making the same mistake someone else did.
