  • Yeah! I've read the book 1984 by George Orwell twice because I found it intriguing and interesting.
  • Probably not - there are just so many books I want to read that I hate to spend time re-reading one. +5 for your question.
  • Yes, I read Common Sense by Thomas Paine about 2 1/2 times. If I enjoy it....I will wait a couple of years or three and re-read. +
  • No never have and never will. I am also the same way about movies or television shows if I already been there I don't need to re-visit.
  • Absolutely. I have several books like that at home.
  • Yeah. I do it alot.
  • Of course, I have some books I have read 3 or 4 times. Good writing never gets old.
  • yea....ive read white oleander atleast 5 times. ive read here be dragons atleast 6 times. they just get better and better!!
  • Yup. If it's a book that I like, I'll read it again. If I like it a lot, I read it numerous times.
  • I'm a writer and I've read a few books more than twice. One that comes to mind is Misery by Stephen King. It's almost perfection from a writer's standpoint. It's just literally beautiful. It's true art. And Capote's In Cold Blood. That's another one. Just pure genius.
  • I always re-read a book. It seems like I always find something that I missed the first time. I only read books that are worth for me to read again and again. I can tell after the first 5 chapters if I'm going to be able to get into it or not. If I can't get into it after 5 chapters, I put it down and never look back..
  • Sure. I have several favorite books that I've read a number of times. Tom Clancy's "Patriot Games" comes immediately to mind.
  • i've only read one book in my life...twice...i like suprises...and that just doesn't leave any room for suprises.
  • Stephen King's Misery. It's as good as books get in every way.
  • Of course. Sometimes the journey is more interesting than the destination and you might want to retrace your steps. (Or do it backwards...)
  • I've read many books twice and even more times if I really enjoyed it. I don't think of books as always just a one trip through. I good book is like an old friend who you take back off the shelf and visit again.
  • I have many times. If there's time between readings, your own experiences, knowledge and emotional levels have changed and you see things differently. And, if it's a good book, it's like watching a good movie or TV show you like over and over. You "get into the moment" again.
  • I wait a couple years and re-read it.
  • I do sometimes - not as often as I probably should because I always get something really good out of it. Sometimes there are little parts of the plot I'd forgotten about that I really enjoy rediscovering - sometimes there are jokes or references or ideas that I didn't "get" for whatever reason the first time round - sometimes I just find it seems like a different book second time around, or I find myself siding with a different character. Reading "Jane Eyre" (which I first read age about 14) again at age twenty-five, after reading "Wide Sargasso Sea" by Jean Rhys was a completely different experience.
  • Yep! I do it all the time and at the moment i'm reading Eragon for the second time and then I will read Eldest for the second time and then when the third book comes out I WILL REMEMBER THE STORY YAY!
  • I have yet to do it, even with books that I find incredibly good. The main reason is that I have a bunch of books that I want to read that I haven't read yet... I like diversity more than anything :)
  • I have books that I read to the point of them falling apart, then purchased new copies and did the same. H. Beam Piper's "Little Fuzzy" is on it's 4th reincarnation for me.
  • I've done it multiple times, a good book is a good book, and i means something different to you every time.
  • Yes, A lot of the times I read a book again I notice things I didn't notice the first time that make the book even more interesting.
  • no chance i can't even watch a movie either
  • I have read many books more than once, even more than 3-4 times. They become old friends and much appreciated. It's like looking at a favorite painting. You can look more than once:-)
  • I have done it many times, I have over a 1000 books, and if it is a great story, I will reread it many times.
  • yes often I get so tangled in a book that I can t put it down.. I read the hobit and the lord of the ring trilogy when I was a teen 3 times..and I didn t even like to read.
  • Like Playboy maybe ;) Seriously tho, after a few years when most of the content is vague or forgotten, it can be fun to reread
  • i,ve read quite a few books more than once.
  • I can't read a book a second time, I don't see the point. I occassionally look at them to remember the plot but I wouldn't read it again
  • yes. I've read Dishwasher two or three times. It's too interesting to NOT read again. I'll probably read it again a couple more times some day.
  • yes. I often pick up a book I have read before, open the page and I off to another place and time. It is like visting with an old friend.
  • Mostly religious books, like the Bible, Book of Mormon, Jesus the Christ, etc. I can't justify the time otherwise, though I might keep the book for future reference. I would probably read books I read as a child to my children.
  • Yes, I've read all my favourite books more than once.
  • yes i have read a book more than twice and if i find another one i really like i'm sure i will read it twice as well.
  • Yeah ....some interesting ones ...for sure :-) !
  • yeah, when i like the book, i have no problem to read it twice!
  • sure, if its a good read u might want to see what u missed the first time around. I've read IT by Stephen King twice, as well as To Kill A Mockingbird, Odd Thomas, Christine, many others
  • I tend to speed read most books that i read for pleasure, so reading them more than once isn't a problem if its been a while in between times as I will pick up on points that i missed the first time or maybe I'm in a different frame of mind the second time. There are even a few books that I read as a young person that I find myself reading today at a much older age and see things that I just didn't understand back then that I do now. The only real rule on books that I have and really try to stick to is that if I have read the book I will not watch the movie as they never follow each other, other way around.
  • Fiction, no. Non-fiction, maybe. I have read "The Web of Life," by Fritjof Capra five times.
  • I do it all the time! - although i know what will happen when i read it the next time i realise different things about the story etc...
  • Of course! If the book is really good, it should make you want to read it more than once. It should make you still feel the same thrill of reading it the first time- all the suspense, fear, mystery and intrigue should still be there the second time around.
  • yes you can never remember the whole book.and if its a good book i just wanna read it again
  • There are certain books which pull you back in, even if you know what's going to happen. Sometimes, knowing what happens at the end can make you pay more attention to what's happening in the rest of the book.
  • Yep! Just like I watch movies more than once. When you know the story, you anticipate things happening, which makes it enjoyable to me. (And in movies, the more I watch, the more I notice - Stunts, effects, background stuff, etc.)
  • Yes, for though I know the Bible, there is always something new that I missed before.
  • Yep, I would. :)
  • Yes I would. In the first instance, I am very sure I would not be able to gasp the totality of the book if I have only read it once. The type of book in question would determine the frequency of my reading it again. I love Stephen Covey's books because he writes beautifully. Just reading his English is enough to keep me spell bound. To date I have read his book "First Things First" at least twice.
  • Absolutely and I have. I have read "Gone with the Wind" at least three times.
  • ive read the garwood's The Wedding 3 times already... and im still craving for it...=)
  • Yes, I would and have done that. Some books are like old friends that I want to go back and visit.
  • Yup when I'm stressed as I know whats going to happen. There are loads of books I read twice! Harry Potter series are probably the only books I've ever read more than twice though!
  • sure, if it was good i will re-read it, usually after a few months or years. like steven goulds "jumper" and "wildside" S. l. Hunter's "fugitive steele" and s. m. Stirling's "Saber and Shadow" and most Mercedes Lackey novels
  • Yes, I have many books that I've read several times. One series I first read when I was 8 years old; it was well ahead of my time, and I have enjoyed reading the series for the past 22 years. I consider it to be among my favourite books, and I seem to find something new and wonderful each time I read it.
  • I have a lot of books i've read more than twice. I love books!
  • Yup! My favorite books I've read more than twice!
  • I've read several books multiple times- actually, I read most books twice. I read several books several times. Only a select few make it into the 30+ category of rereads- Am I the only one who's read a book over thirty times? That was 200+ pages and not a work of scripture?
  • Aye.. indeed and I have.
  • I have many times. Its a matter of appreciating the writers style or the point of the story in greater detail, which isnt ruined by already knowing the ending. In this case, I would say that how you get there is more important than the destination.
  • Good books, good movies, and good music are all worth revisiting for mre enjoyment.
  • Read a book twice? Absolutely! Or 3 times. Or 20 times. :) -- Some examples that come quickly to mind? (1) children's books that we read to them over and over and over and over. Might even have been read to us the generation before that. Familiar. Well loved. -- (2) in the opposite direction, imagine now an elderly person, then anyone (spouse, siblings, younger generations in the family, friends) .. sitting at the bedside .. reading aloud to them from .. yes .. "their favorite book". Comforting. A gift. An amazing bonding experience for both. -- (3) the fiction books or poetry or plays or short stories .. fiction all .. that inspire or delight us .. that we not only read more than once .. but take great pleasure in the reaching for them. -- Guess you can tell I'm a book lover!! You came up with a great question! :)
  • Hell yeah! 2nd time around you see things more from the authors perspective in creating the story. If you want to learn how to tell stories, I suggest reading your favorites over and over and focusing on what it is you like about them and using those elements in your writings.
  • yes. i've read "don't turn your back in the barn" (By David Perrin)more than a dozen times, all the way through.
  • Yes, I read THE LITTLE PRINCE several times...and lots of non-fiction stuff too.
  • I read Fight Club and Choke like 3 times. They are both awesome.
  • Yes I would... infact I have read the book Prey by Michael Criton (spelling) three times... it is a very interesting book
  • of course! you catch things you don't notice the first time around...it's like movies...you don't just see a movie once in your life and never see it again..well hopefully not anyway i'm horrid though i'm the type of person that reads the last page of the book....i'm sorry but i'm curious :(
  • I would if I really liked the book.
  • Yea, definetly
  • I have. "The Good Earth" by Pearl Buck, I've actually read it 3 times...If you think you have it bad, read that book. Olan, is such a poor soul, just wanting love and never finding it. Oh, so sad:(
  • Yes. You can't read Harry Potter just once. Its to good.
  • Yes, I've done it with many books (Victoria Holt writes so freaking good, you can't just read the book once) and I have read more than twice...up to 5 times. Not in a row, usually once a year I'll grab one of her books and read it with the same excitement I had the first time I read it. :)
  • I read a lot of my books 2 or 3+ times, but most of the time I will start to re-read and then give up halfway through.
  • Yes, if it's a good book it doesn't matter how many times you read it.
  • Yeah, I've read books many many times, often I will pick up on a little detail I missed.
  • I have. Sometimes you come across a book that is so good that it feels like you're reading it new again- you feel the excitement or emotions relating to the story. That's when you know you have a really good book on your hands. When I was a kid, I read Time Windows over and over again. Now, it's the Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy.
  • oh, all the time. well, that is when it's really good. like peter pan, the never-ending story, and alice in wonderland. even though they've been made into movies, i'd rather read the book over again than watch the movie a few times. i love the way that they can just captivate you and take you to right where they are.. sorry my response is so long, lol
  • Yeah i do that all the time. I have read some at least five times. If they are good books they are definitely worth reading more than once
  • Some books should be read 2 times maybe more. It's not the same when u read a book at the age 16 and then at 20.
  • there are books i read at least 20 times already.
  • I've read John Steibeck's 'Cannery Row', four times; absolutely love the bums, whores, deadbeats, and their louch life with their good intentions. With most books a lot of the enjoyment comes from the visualising of the narrative; Cannery Row is a book where I experience sounds. Can't explain it, but, anyway, absolutely love the book.
  • Definetly! i love to read books that ive read but i love reading new books. I want some recommendations so please go to my profile and look at my question in Books & Writing, about recommendations.
  • LOTS OF TIMES. SINCE I'VE MARRIED AND HAD CHILDREN, MY PRESPECTIVE HAS CHANGED. I RE-READ BOOKS TO VISIT WITH OLD FRIENDS, BUT OFTEN I FIND SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN THE STORY. THE OPPOSITE APPLIES AS WELL. SINCE HAVING KIDS THERE ARE SOME BOOKS I WOULD NEVER READ AGAIN.I ALSO FIND I MAY IDENTIFY WITH A CHARACTER I DIDN'T LIKE BEFORE.
  • I'm about to read Eat, Pray, Love again.
  • Definitely, I love rereading books. If I really enjoyed a story the first time, it's great to relive it--it's like visiting an old friend, in a way. You can also pick up on a lot of things you missed the first time that way.
  • Of course, I don't have a photographic memory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidetic_memory
  • My diary
  • Done it plenty of times.
  • Yes. and I have more than once. I still have books I read 25 years ago and I read then a 2nd time and it's as though I have never read them.
  • No. I have too many books to read and I'm a slow reader.
  • Of course I do!! I have even read some books more than twice. I even miss the characters when I finish a good novel, just as if they were friends or family!
  • yes but a few years after the first reading
  • I have re-read books to the point that they have literally fallen apart! it's like visiting an old friend, you know they're probably not going to surprise you in any new way, but it's comforting just to see them again.
  • There are several novels in my collection that I read once a year. It's getting more difficult these days as I promote fiction through my blog and receive a lot of free ones. So many books, so little time.
  • Yes, especially at Christmas time I do. I get out my Christmas children's picture books I collect and reread them each Christmas. It is like a tradition to me since I've hardly any family any more.
  • I have.
  • Sure! Or three times. Or five. Or once a year. A well-worn book pulled out again is like meeting up with an old friend. It's wonderful. "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times."
  • would you travel back to the same place that you went before, even though you knew what it was like.... of course you would. Things are not the same as you are always different everyday, That is the beauty of another day.....
