I say in a growling voice...ENOUGH! and then I spray canned air at the kitten, which usually gets the message across at least for a while. If the kitten doesn't stop coming back and pestering you after a few growls and canned air hisses, then banish the kitten from the bedroom (I suggest shutting him up in a room in the house as far from your bedroom as possible, unless your kitten is one of those rare ones who don't try to meow like he's dying to get you to come to him...of course, when you shut him up in solitary, provide him litter and water and a small dish of dry food) Growling ENOUGH or other such word mimics the way a cat growls at a pesky kitten when the cat is telling the kitten to "knock it off" with a behavior the adult has had enough of. Then the adult often will hiss at the kitten and follow the hiss up with a swat if the hiss fails to give the kitten the message. Cats can swat kittens harmlessly but still get their message across effectively, whereas humans don't possess such skill. Hence, following up the hissing with banishing the kitten to solitary confinement for the night is a better choice of disciplinary tool for the kitten, giving the kitten the message "If you do that behavior or if you don't quit after I make it clear I want you to quit, you will go to kitty jail." Having two cats or more helps with many of these problems, especially if you have a well-behaved adult cat. Well behaved adults often will participate in teaching a kitten the house rules and the kitten also will usually imitate the adult's behaviors.
