I don't have any thoughts when I drive by a Starbucks. In fact, since I don't drink coffee, I don't even know when I pass by one. I do know when I pass a Krispy Kreme! They have that HOT sign! =]) Now that I like!

If they didn't have to be uppity and pretentious with their "tall" for small, "Venti" for medium and Grande~ for large I might be more inclined to want to blow that much on an overpriced cup of Joe. That and if they didn't always give me that freakin' "look" for not ordering one of those "coffee drinks" that seem designed for those that don't like coffee. I have never been in one. But when I go past I wonder what the fuss is about because they always seem to do good business....anytime of the day.

If I notice that its there, either nothing, or, "hey look, a Starbucks" And thats about where it stops.

There's one on the corner near where I live at a very busy intersection. I think, uh oh a stupid motorist could be pulling out at any time after I made the right turn thinking I'm in the clear when a random car could be pulling out 20 yards after I made the turn.

That any thoughts the economy is bad is bull crap. When people are lining up for 5 dollar coffees or purchasing fancy new cell phones, etc., the economy is okay. When we are digging in garbage piles for the less rotted potatoes, the economy is bad. Looking at Starbucks and all the other "luxury" stores of things not really needed to sustain life really puts a real perspective on economics of the nation.

Honestly. I wonder how long they will last. I know that they have become a new type of singles' bar...but years ago there were muffin shops every where (try to find one now) and other fads that came and went. I suppose only time will tell if they stay. But I hate the smell of coffee..especially Starbucks (it smells burnt to me)..so smell is the first thing I think of.
