  • With a recurve unaided, I am comfortable out to 30 yards but try to keep shots inside of 25. With a compound, distances out to 60 yards aren't unreasonable if you have a great deal of experience in both shooting AND hunting. Hunting distances with a bow have two important dimensions to consider. (1) the farther the shot, the more likelihood there will be that the animal will have moved by the time the arrow arrives. and (2) the farther away the shot the more critical it will be to precisely estimate the distance within geometrically smaller and smaller margins of error.
  • It depends on your sight. My sights are so big, that at just 30 yards, they cover up the whole target... so how can I aim for a particular spot? So nope, I'm good for 25, 20, 15, and 10!
