Yes but since it is a part of my job , it is just something I have to overcome.
-
Heck yes it does!
-
i used to get so nervous when i was asked to present something in the class now i have no problem what so ever i just get it done, as i got older i have developed more courage and self-esteem, which is always good lol :)
-
No I use to belong to Toastmasters where I learned how to overcome my fear of talking in public. But I rarely if never talk in public.
-
Learning to speak in public is like any other learned skill. Learning to speak in public tends to cause us more angst. We laugh if we flub the first few tennis swings or if we fall on the first day of roller blading, but speaking in public is different. If we make flubs we get more embarassed perhaps because we thinks it implies lesser intelligence (or some twisted thinking like that). Well it doesn't. Flubs and unintentions are a natural part of the leanring process, not mistakes. Shift your thinking about tham and you shift you thinking about learning to speak in public. Be willing to go through the learning process of public speaking and laugh together at what you used to call mistakes. Mistakes do not exist in the learning process. If you still fear public speaking, try staying with this thought, "It is all just a natural part of the learning process; I am willing to learn public speaking and have fun doing it!" I used to do it and I was terrified inside and people said I looked so poised but now I don't have to and I'm back to sheer terror:-)
-
Not anymore.
-
Nah, not at all really.
-
It used to, but then I spent many years in sales and well, that changed that! LOL
-
Yes, it does. I don't have to do any public speaking in my job. But when I was in school and we had to do speaches, I was so nervous that I'd stammer and shake and feel like I was going to get sick.
-
It really does! My heart races and my face gets beet red. My voice shakes...it's terrible! Any tips on getting over it?
-
Debilitatingly so.
-
Depends how many people there are i guess, If its a small group then no. If its a class then no either but if its like a hall full of people definetly!
-
I'm afraid for the audience, not myself. :)
-
yes thats very nerve racking...lol
-
I'm afraid someone in the audience will make a loud sound then everyone will look behind them and it will waste a lot of time.
-
oh ya i have the worst stge fright ive slowly been getting over it but i still would never get a job or take a class or something where i was required to do it
-
Yes I get nervous and my words don't sound right. I can hold a conversation at random but when I am all eyes on or on camera forget it I become an idiot.
-
I HATE attention being focused on me when I have to talk!! I get nervous and always forget what I am going to say. Not fun at all
-
yes
-
Is is frightening, all those minds focused on you. Thats why they say its good to start off with a joke to loosen everyone up.
-
No big deal! I have to speak to audiences at night clubs.
-
yes....got big stage fright in me. Keep me away from talking to lots of people.
-
YES, YES, a thousand times YES
-
yes!! i have glossophobia!
-
I was at first but, I find when you look slightly over their head, this eases the tension and anxiety that you may feel. Although ever so often you should make eye contact with a few in the audience as to give then the perception that you are talking to them. Although the group I spoke to where 60 Marines in formation every morning and then some....they where a tough crowd.
-
YES, i'm horrible at it, my voice changes and my speech speeds up very fast so my words are tumbling over each other and i shake and sweat.i hate it!
-
In the beginning I used to be nervous. But by now I am so used to it that I don't give it a second thought.
-
yeah i get nervous, but i'll go first or second b/c just wanna get it over with.
-
NO,not since I joined AA back in the '80's ,to speak to a crowd of 50 isn't all that bad, once you do it a few times,I even spoke to other high school kids about my drinking/drug use when I was a senior.

I`m scared senseless.
