Greed is the root of all politics.
-
Capitalism might
-
Absolutely. We are judged by what and how much we own, not by who we are or what we know.
-
Yes, in a positive feed back sort of way. We are naturally greedy anyway so encouraging greed is the easy path and discouraging greed is hard work. If we weren't so greedy then society would discourage greed for the same reason. The message that is heard most is the loudest, most persistent message. To be loud and persistent requires money or volunteers. Where does the money come from? Where do the volunteers come from?
-
society's always encouraged greed guess it's the education in today's youth that refrains us from being one .
-
Yes but greed isn't always bad. Greed shows us that people are fighting for more and can see improvements happen in the best of things.
-
In western society, Greed is definitely encouraged. We're taught to go to school, get a job, consume, consume, consume. YOU ARE WHAT YOU DRIVE! YOU ARE WHO YOU WEAR! Be the best. Compete. Amass the most wealth. These things are pumped into your head every day, no matter where you look. I find it sad and depressing, and hope someday we can break out of the cycle and stop defining ourselves by the car we drive and our fucking grande lattes.
-
yes, people worship greed. which is wrong!
-
Yeah greed is encouraged for real think about just turn on your radio station, TV, you'll hear someone talk about their money, cars, clothers. The life america sells to us if your not rich basically greedy your nothing. Even I'm into that trap in a way because I think a goal of a 200 Million dollar company is greedy.
-
i feel today's soceity most definitely encourages greed, or at least to achieve everything possible. and this teaching has both the good and the bad outcomes, and people who take it to extremes, just like most issues in this world (the war, diets, religion, ect.)it's not a question of if but a question of its effect and if we are making responsible decisions with the information and teachings we aquire.
-
Conservatism encourages greed...
-
Yes, but it's a good thing. I love working & making my money. I love when someone can ask you, what do you drive? Where do you live? Where do you shop? What do you make? What is your job title? I mean I know a lot of people love to answer any of those questions with great answers. & it's not being greedy it's just being proud of what you have.

This video is just as true today as it was when it was recorded in the 70's and that is not a good thing:
-
Greed is one of the seven deadly sins, so we bring ti upon ourselves

Yes of course it does.

could be. It seems to me everything just costs so much more than it used to and we just need more money to survive. Some people of course are greedy. But there are a lot of us that give to charities as well.
-
Greed is coming to a rapid end. People are tired of paying for the rich. This new government seems to quietly address the selfishness of the top ten %
-
Greed in society is mostly selfishness, so yes definitely.
-
western society...yes
-
at the executive level only greed is permitted. if you fail to maximize profits at all costs you are stunted or even outed. this mandate is what has caused the average income to plumit until most american households can not only not make it on one income, but often even fail to make it on 2 incomes.
-
Yes, but western society has always encouraged greed. If people didn't work for more money than they needed we wouldn't have the economic power we do have.
-
