  • I believe so, I believe that the victims, and their families need to be compensated more, the Vatican loses their ability to operate as a independant state, and pay Italy proper taxes.
  • The individuals as individuals in the Church are responsible for their actions. If a priest molests a child, then he should go to jail. If a bishop covers it up, then he should go to jail also. The failure of a given individual to live up to the teachings of the Catholic Church does not make the entire Church as a entity materially responsible. The Catholic Church taught these priests and bishops to be virtuous and honest. The men disobeyed what they were taught and did what they wanted. Is their personal disobedience the fault of the entire Catholic Church? And what is the ultimate end to monetary reimbursement? Is it designed to punish the entire Catholic Church or to help the victims? It seems that the victims, nearly all of them Catholic, should seek eternal compensation. Do victims ever ask for hundreds of Masses to be offered for themselves and their family? I've never heard of such a request. It is always about money.
  • Yes, The catholic church was aware of many of the crimes, and their answer was, to place the molesters in another parish. I dont know what punishment, would be fitting, I just want them, to turn over the molesters to the law, with the truth, so that the victims, can move on, with their healing.
  • Aldebaron seems to accuse the victoms of making these accusations for money. The Church SHOULD pay with BOTH money... lots of money and lots of outrage! If you research (try bishopaccountablity.org), you will see that most cases involve MANY victoms of each pervert. When you have 10-20 accusers, I think it's safe to say that the damn priest is guilty as hell! And, when a bishop covers this up...the Church IS guilty! The bishop is a representative of the pope! They need to let priests marry AND most of all....they need to punish these assholes to the fullest extent of the law!!
  • OOPS!!..... VICTIMS not victoms....sorry
  • Those within the Catholic church (not the Catholic church itself) who knew about these cases should stand trial just as much as the perpetrators should.
